Pursuant to section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, the Standards Council, on 15 June 1971, declared the undermentioned specifications to be standard specifications.

Pursuant to section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, the Standards Council, on 15 June 1971, amended the undermentioned standard specifications by the incorporation of the amendments shown hereunder.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 230-Public Inquiry Into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Screwdrivers of Tariff Item 82.04.75

  1. Arising from the recommendations of the Tariff and Development Board, in its Report No. 97 dated 8 October 1969, the Minister of Customs has now referred to the Board for inquiry and report the question of what form and level of protection should be afforded to the screwdriver manufacturing industry. The Tariff provisions relating to screwdrivers are set out in the Schedule to this notice.

  2. The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 5 October 1971, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  3. Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, both public and confidential, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, at the Board's office no later than Friday, 17 September 1971. In preparing this evidence the "Notes for Guidance of Witnesses" prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board's office.

However, parts of general use as defined in Note 2 to Section XV are in all cases excluded from this Chapter. Recognisable blanks of the articles falling in the headings of this Chapter and blanks of the parts of articles classified in this Chapter by virtue of the first part of this Note are to be classified with the articles or parts of which they are blanks."
