Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 206—Inquiry Into Cast Acrylic Sheet of Tariff Items 39.02.64, 39.02.65, 39.02.66, and 39.02.67

Following receipt by the Minister of Customs of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority, the Government has accepted the recommendation of the Authority that import licensing be retained on cast acrylic sheet for 12 months subject to review at that time, or until such time as the Tariff and Development Board has presented its final report.

In accordance with the provisions of the Tariff and Development Board Act, the Minister of Customs has requested the Board to inquire into and report on the import duties and import licensing position affecting Cast Acrylic Sheet covered by Tariff items 39.02.64, 39.02.65, 39.02.66, and 39.02.67. The items concerned are set out in the Schedule to this notice.

The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 8 June 1971, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, both public and confidential, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, at the Board's office no later than Friday, 21 May 1971. In preparing this evidence the "Notes for Guidance of Witnesses" prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board's office.
