✨ Tariff Board Inquiry
Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 246—Inquiry Concerning Protection for Self-adhesive Papers (Ex Tariff Items 48.07.16, 48.07.17, 48.07.18 and 48.07.19)
-
Following receipt by the Minister of Customs of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority, the Government has accepted the recommendation of the Authority that, pending inquiry and report by the Tariff and Development Board, temporary protection on self-adhesive paper in sheets of an area not less than 300 sq. in. be afforded by a determination under Tariff item 48.07.18. The Authority also suggested, and Government agreed, that the terms of reference to the Board should include all self-adhesive papers in both roll and sheet form.
-
In accordance with the provisions of the Tariff and Development Board Act, the Minister of Customs has requested the Board to inquire into and report on what form of permanent protection, if any, is necessary in respect of all Self-Adhesive papers classified in Tariff items 48.07.16 to 48.07.19 inclusive. The Tariff provisions relating to these goods are set out in the Schedule to this notice. In addition the Minister has asked the Board to take into account the adequacy of the word “gummed” (as it is used in the Tariff) in relation to these papers.
-
The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public hearing in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 18 April 1972, commencing at 10.30 a.m.
-
Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge, in typewritten form, 14 copies of public evidence and 12 copies of confidential evidence, to be presented under oath at the public hearing, at the Board’s office no later than Friday, 31 March 1972. In preparing this evidence the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses” prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board’s office.
Dated at Wellington this 14th day of December 1971.
C. H. S. RODDEN, Secretary, Tariff and Development Board.
