The Road Classification (Rotorua County) Notice No. 2, 1970


PURSUANT to regulation 3 of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1969*, the Secretary for Transport hereby gives the following notice:


NOTICE

  1. This notice may be cited as the Road Classification (Rotorua County) Notice No. 2, 1970.

  2. The Rotorua County Council’s proposed classification of the roads as set out in the Schedule hereto is hereby approved.

  3. The notices dated the 29th day of July 1966†, the 10th day of June 1968‡, the 8th day of November 1968§, and the 23rd day of March 1970∥, which relate to the classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto are hereby revoked.


SCHEDULE

ROTORUA COUNTY

Roads Classified in Class I

Allen Mills Road.

Ngongotaha Road (from Motorway junction No. 5 State Highway (Tirau-Napier via Rotorua and Taupo) through Ngongotaha Township to the Rotorua-Auckland railway line).

Ohakuri Road (from No. 30 State Highway (Te Kuiti-Whakatane via Atiamuri) to a point 3¼ miles measured southerly generally along Ohakuri Road from the said State highway).

Taui Street (from Ngongotaha Road to and including its intersection with Wikaraka Street).

Vaughans Road (from No. 30 State Highway (Te Kuiti-Whakatane via Atiamuri) to a point 24 chains measured northerly generally along Vaughans Road to and including the entrance of the Supreme Concrete yard from the said State highway).

Wikaraka Street (from Taui Street thence northerly generally to a point opposite the southern boundary of Lot I, D.P. S. 89, produced across the said Wikaraka Street).

Roads Classified in Class II

Broadlands Road.

Dansey Road.

Hamilton Road (from Manawahe Road to a point 1.5 miles measured north-easterly generally along Hamilton Road from Manawahe Road).

Kaharoa Road (from Tauranga Direct Road to and including its intersection with Penny Road).

Manawahe Road (from No. 30 State Highway (Te Kuiti-Whakatane via Atiamuri) to Hamilton Road).

Mangatete Road (from Waikite Valley Road for a distance of 1½ miles to and including the entrance to the Pozzolan Factory).

Maraeroa Road.

Okareka Loop Road (from its westerly junction with Tarawera Road for a distance of 60 chains to and including the entrance to Ormands Quarry).

Reporaroa Road (from No. 5 State Highway (Tirau-Napier via Rotorua and Taupo) to Broadlands Road).

Rerewhakaaitu Road (from No. 38 State Highway (Waiotapu-Wairoa, via Waikaremoana) to its intersection with Ashpit and Yankee Roads).

Tarawera Road (from No. 30 State Highway (Te Kuiti-Whakatane via Atiamuri) to its westerly junction with Okareka Loop Road).

Tarukenga Road.

Tauranga Direct Road (from Ngongotaha County Town boundary to Rotorua-Tauranga County boundary).

Waikite Valley Road.

Whirinaki Valley Road (from No. 30 State Highway (Te Kuiti-Whakatane via Atiamuri) to Waikite Valley Road).

Western Road (from No. 5 State Highway (Tirau-Napier, via Rotorua and Taupo) to the Western boundary of Ngongotaha County Town).

All roads in the Ngongotaha County Town District other than those classified in Class One.

Roads Classified in Class III

All roads under the control of the Rotorua County Council other than those classified in Class II and Class I.

National Roads Board—Notice Partially Revoking the Declaration of a State Highway to be a Limited Access Road


PURSUANT to subsection 5 of Section 4 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1963, the National Roads Board hereby revokes its resolution of 20 September 1967 pursuant to section 4 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1963, declaring that part of No. 73 State Highway (Christchurch-Kumara junction) from a point 6 chains west of its intersection with Russley Road generally westwards to its intersection with Sandy Knolls Road at the Paparua County boundary a distance of 10.9 miles as more particularly shown on sheets 1, 2, 3, and 4, of Plan M.O.W. 13718 and the accompanying schedule held in the office of the resident engineer, Ministry of Works, Christchurch, and there available for public inspection, to be a limited access road in so far as the aforementioned resolution affects the northern half width of the said No. 73 State Highway fronting Lot 1, D.P. 25901, in Part Rural Section 37809, Rolleston Survey District XII.
