NOTICE is hereby given that a petition was on 29 June 1970, presented to Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice by the directors of the above-named Guardian Assurance Company Limited, to obtain the sanction of the Court as required by section 11 of the Insurance Companies Act 1958 (as amended by the Companies Act 1967), to a scheme for the transfer to the said Guardian Assurance Company Limited of: (a) part of the life assurance and annuity business of the above-named The Royal Exchange Assurance and Caledonian Insurance Company; (b) the life assurance and annuity businesses of the above-named Atlas Assurance Company Limited and The Licenses and General Insurance Company Limited; and (c) the capital redemption insurance businesses of the said The Royal Exchange Assurance, the said Caledonian Insurance Company, and the said The Licenses and General Insurance Company Limited.
Copies of the conditional agreements for carrying the said scheme into effect all dated 24 June 1970, and copies of the actuarial reports upon which the agreements are founded including a report by an independent actuary as required by the Insurance Companies Act 1958, may be inspected during usual business hours on any weekday previous to the hearing of the petition at the under-mentioned addresses:

And notice is further given that the said petition is directed to be heard before the Honourable Mr Justice Megarry, at the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London, England, on Monday, the 12th day of October 1970, and any person interested in the said companies whether as a policyholder or otherwise desirous of opposing the making of an order for the sanction of the said scheme, may appear at the time of hearing in person or by counsel for the purpose, in which case he is required to give 2 clear days’ previous notice in writing of his intention so to appear with the grounds of his objection to the under-mentioned solicitors. Any policyholder of the said companies who dissents from the proposed scheme but who does not desire to appear either in person or by counsel on the hearing of the said petition, should give 2 clear days’ previous notice in writing of such dissent with the grounds thereof to the under-mentioned solicitors.
A copy of the said petition will be furnished to any person requiring the same by the under-mentioned solicitors on payment of the regulated charge for the same.
