Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 176—Public Inquiry into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Certain Items of Cutlery, Spoons and Forks, and Associated Items, and Certain Handles for Cutlery

  1. The Tariff and Development Board has been requested by the Minister of Customs to inquire into and report on the import duties and import licensing affecting the goods listed in the Schedule to this notice. At the same time, and in accordance with a general reference from the Minister of Overseas Trade in this regard, the Board will consider any representations relating to the elimination of the margins by which, in respect of the goods under inquiry, the rates of duty on imports from Australia exceed those payable under the British Preferential Tariff.

  2. The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, commencing at 10.30 a.m. Tuesday, 27 October 1970.

  3. Any person who wishes to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, at the Board’s office no later than Friday, 9 October 1970. In preparing this evidence the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses” prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these “Notes” may be obtained from the Board’s office.
