His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has been pleased to approve the following transfer to the retired list, cancellations of commissions, promotions, transfers, extension of commission and age for retirement, and resignation of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, pursuant to section 15 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950.

REGULAR AIR FORCE

GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH

Transfer to Retired List

Squadron Leader Ronald Charles MacFarlane, A.F.C. (70923) is transferred to the Retired List “A” with effect from 16 April 1970.

Cancellation of Commission

The commission of Acting Pilot Officer Christopher Hugh Frey Fraser (83825) is cancelled with effect from 20 March 1970.

CHAPLAINS BRANCH

Cancellation of Commission

The commission of the Reverend Bruce Miller Calder (84285) is cancelled with effect from 17 March 1970.

RESERVE OF AIR FORCE OFFICERS

Promotions

Squadron Leader Kenneth Edwin Wardill, M.B., B.S.(U.DURH.), D.T.M. AND H., R.C.P.(LOND.), R.C.S.(ENG.) (134299) to be Wing Commander with seniority and effect from 1 June 1970.

Flight Lieutenant Gerald Lane Batchelor, M.B., CH.B. (134343) to be Squadron Leader with seniority from 1 January 1969, with effect from 1 May 1970.

Transfers

Squadron Leader Ian Albert Hutchins, A.F.C. (457833) is transferred from the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, to the Reserve of Air Force Officers, for a period to expire on 4 April 1978 with effect from 13 April 1970.

Flight Lieutenant David James Greenlees (71637) is transferred from the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, to the Reserve of Air Force Officers, for a period to expire on 5 May 1974, with effect from 10 April 1970.

Extension of Commission and Age for Retirement

Wing Commander Charles Swanston, M.B., CH.B.(U.N.Z.), D.O.M., F.R.A.C.S. R.C.P.(LOND.), R.C.S.(ENG.), (131418), is granted an extension of his commission and age for retirement, for a period to expire on 25 July 1975.

Retirements

The under-mentioned officers are retired with effect the dates shown:

Flight Lieutenant Julian Michael Mathieson (715818), 13 February 1970.

Flight Lieutenant Alfred Noel Arnott (132347), 10 June 1970.

Resignation

Flying Officer Brian Denis Dunn is permitted to resign his commission with effect from 1 February 1969.
