Notification of Result of General Licensing Poll

PURSUANT to the Licensing Act 1908, I, Daniel Johnston Riddiford, Minister of Justice, hereby give notice that, at the General Licensing Poll held on 29 November 1969, valid votes were recorded as follows:

For National Continuance .. .. .. 901,471
For State Purchase and Control .. .. .. 240,942
For National Prohibition .. .. .. 174,560

Total valid votes .. .. .. 1,316,973

As the total number of valid votes recorded for either State purchase and control or national prohibition does not amount to more than one-half of all the valid votes recorded at the poll, the result of the poll is that national continuance is deemed to have been carried.

Approval of Revolving Amber Lights for Certain Vehicles

PURSUANT to regulation 39 of the Traffic Regulations 1956*, the Secretary for Transport hereby approves the fitting of one revolving yellow or amber light on any motor vehicle owned or operated by the New Zealand Post Office, subject to the following conditions:

  1. The vehicle shall be painted a conspicuous colour.
  2. The light shall not be used while the vehicle is moving.
  3. The light shall be used only at the site of a traffic hazard, such as broken telephone lines.
  4. Suitable and adequate warning signs shall be provided as soon as possible after the occurrence of the hazard.

Consenting to Raising of Loans by Certain Local Authorities

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956 (as amended by section 3 (1) of the Local Authorities Loans Amendment Act 1967), the undersigned Assistant Secretary to the Treasury, acting under powers delegated to the Secretary to the Treasury by the Minister of Finance, hereby consents to the borrowing by the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto of the whole or any part of the respective amounts specified in that Schedule.
