The Control of Prices (Positive List) Notice 1966—Amendment No. 14

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act 1947, the Minister of Industries and Commerce hereby gives the following notice:

  1. This notice may be cited as the Control of Prices (Positive List) Notice 1966—Amendment No. 14, and shall be read together with, and deemed to be part of, the Control of Prices (Positive List) Notice 1966 (hereinafter referred to as the principal notice).

  2. This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  3. The principal notice is hereby amended by excluding the reference to “flour and wheatmeal” under the general heading of Foodstuffs and Related Commodities, and by substituting the following:

“Flour including gluten, wheatmeal, and wholemeal but excluding self-raising, soya bean and rye flour, and excluding wheatmeal and wholemeal in packs of 12½ lb or less.”

Authorisation of 1970 New Zealand Easter Show

PURSUANT to the Exhibitions Act 1910, the Minister of Industries and Commerce hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires—
    “The Act” means the Exhibitions Act 1910;
    “The promoter” means the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association and the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association;
    “The exhibition” means a public exhibition of works of industry and art to be conducted by the promoter at the Epsom Showgrounds, Auckland, from the 13th day of March 1970 to the 31st day of March 1970 (both inclusive), and to be known as the New Zealand Easter Show 1970.

  2. The Exhibition is hereby authorised and declared to be an exhibition within the meaning of the Act.

  3. Subject to the conditions set out in the Schedule hereto, the following provisions are hereby suspended in so far as they relate to work done or business conducted or services rendered in the said premises during the period of the exhibition, by or on behalf of the promoter, or by or on behalf of any exhibitor at the exhibition, or by any person employed in or about the exhibition, namely—such of the provisions of
    (a) the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1954 and all awards and industrial agreements in force thereunder;
    (b) the Shops and Offices Act 1955; and
    (c) the Factories Act 1946
    as relate to the hours of commencing or ceasing work, or to the issue of permits, or to the payment for overtime, or extended hours, or to holidays, and half holidays, or to the closing of shops.

SCHEDULE

  1. Forty hours shall constitute a week’s work, to be worked on 5 days of the week, and 8 hours shall constitute a day’s work in or about the exhibition, and, with the exception set out in clause 2 hereof, the daily hours shall be worked consecutively.

  2. No person shall be employed in or about the exhibition for more than 4 hours without an interval of at least three-quarters of an hour for a meal.

  3. (a) Any person employed during any day in or about the exhibition who is employed on that day for more than 8 hours, or before the hour of 8 a.m., or after the hour of 10.30 p.m., or on any day in excess of 5 days per week (whether the excess employment is in or about the exhibition or otherwise) shall be paid for the excess employment at not less than half as much again as the ordinary rate for the first 2 hours and at not less than twice the ordinary rate thereafter.

(b) Any person employed in or about the exhibition on any day that would, but for the provisions of this order, have been a whole holiday for that person by virtue of any Act or of any award or industrial agreement shall be paid for all work done on that day at not less than twice the ordinary rate, whether the work is performed wholly in or about the exhibition or otherwise: Provided that nothing in this subclause shall be deemed to deprive any person of any other payment for the said holiday to which he is entitled under any Act or award or industrial agreement.

  1. No male under 18 years of age and no female shall be employed in or about the exhibition after the hour of 10.30 p.m.

  2. For the purposes of the enforcement of an award or industrial agreement, any provision of which has been suspended by this order, any officer of the industrial union or association concerned who is authorised in writing in that behalf by the union or association shall be entitled to interview at his place of employment any person employed in or about the exhibition under that award or industrial agreement at such time or times as may be agreed upon between the officer and the employer of that person, and for this purpose any such officer shall be entitled at any time to have access to the register of passes issued by the promoter.

  3. Nothing in this notice shall be deemed to affect any provisions in an award or industrial agreement requiring workers subject to the award or industrial agreement to be members of a union.

Prescribing the Building Research Rate of Levy

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Building Research Levy Act 1969, the Minister of Science hereby gives notice that, with effect from the 1st day of April 1970, the rate of levy to be paid by builders for the purposes of the Act shall be that prescribed in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE
RATE OF LEVY
Fifty cents per $1,000 (or part thereof) for all contracts or construction work valued at or in excess of $3,000.

Amendment to Rules of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society

PURSUANT to section 29 of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby gives notice that he has approved the following new rule made by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society to stand in place of Rule 6 as originally approved by the Minister of Internal Affairs on 12 June 1957:

Rule 6—“Only those persons whose application for membership of the Society has been received by the Secretary of the Society on or before the 31st day of August immediately preceding the date appointed for the holding of the annual general meeting shall be entitled to vote at any postal ballot for the election of officers of the Society; and, for the purposes of every such ballot, the register of members shall be closed as at the said 31st day of August.”
