Cancellation of Licence to Use Water Power and Erect and Use Electric Lines

PURSUANT to the Electricity Act 1968, the Minister of Electricity, with the consent of the licensee, hereby cancels a licence dated the 11th day of July 1956, authorising Douglas Scott, of Glenorchy, sheep farmer, and Jean Rooney, of Alexandra, married woman, to use water for the purpose of generating electricity and to erect and use certain electric lines (Gazette, 12 July 1956, p. 920).

Consent to the Generation of Electricity by John Fraser Collier by the Use of Water

PURSUANT to the Electricity Act 1968, the Minister of Electricity hereby consents to the generation of electricity by John Fraser Collier, of Otaio Gorge, Timaru, runholder, by the use of water, subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS

  1. The conditions directed by the Water Power Regulations 1934 to be implied in every licence to use water for the purpose of generating or storing electricity shall be deemed to be conditions of this consent, as if it were such a licence.

  2. This consent is subject to compliance with the Water Power Regulations 1934, the Electrical Supply Regulations 1967, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1961, the Radio Interference Regulations 1958, and all regulations hereafter made in amendment of or in substitution for any of those regulations, as if in the case of the Water Power Regulations 1934 it were a licence under the Public Works Act 1928 to use water for the purpose of generating electricity, as well as a consent under the Electricity Act 1968 to generate electricity by the use of water.

  3. The generation of electricity by the use of water pursuant to this consent shall be carried out by means of the works described in the Schedule hereto.

  4. This consent shall, unless it is sooner lawfully determined, continue in force until the 31st day of March 1985 or until electricity is available from an electrical supply authority, whichever is the earlier.

  5. This consent confers no rights to water under the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967 or otherwise.

  6. For the purpose of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this consent, the maximum generating capacity of the plant at the date of this consent is 3½ kW.

SCHEDULE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

(a) Head works consisting of screens and intake situated in Rural Section 22851, Block XII, Nimrod Survey District.

(b) Pipeline leading to the powerhouse, giving a static head of approximately 8 ft.

(c) Tail race from the powerhouse to the Otaio River.

(d) Water turbine and powerhouse situated in Rural Section 22851, Block XII, Nimrod Survey District, with all necessary equipment for generating electricity.

As shown on the plan marked N.Z.E.D. 791 deposited in the office of the New Zealand Electricity Department at Wellington.

Additional Land at Wairio Taken for the Purposes of the Western Railways

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, the Minister of Railways hereby declares that, a sufficient agreement to that effect having been entered into, the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the Western Railways from and after the 2nd day of March 1970.

The Traffic (Ellesmere County) Notice No. 3, 1970

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Ellesmere County) Notice No. 3, 1970.

  2. The roads specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be a 40-miles-an-hour speed limit area for the purposes of regulation 27A of the Traffic Regulations 1956*.

  3. The notice under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949 and regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956*, dated the 23rd day of January 1959†, which relates to the former Springs County, at Rolleston, is hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Ellesmere County, at Rolleston:

No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) (from a point 7 chains measured north-easterly generally along the said State highway from the Lincoln-Rolleston Road to a point 17 chains measured south-westerly generally along the said State highway from the Lincoln-Rolleston Road).

Brookside Road (from the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) to Moore Street).

Shelley Street.

Springston-Rolleston Road (from the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) to a point 24 chains measured south-easterly generally along the Springston-Rolleston Road from the said State highway).
