Rock Oyster Farming Lease
PURSUANT to the Rock Oyster Farming Act 1964, notice is hereby given that the Minister of Marine has granted to James F. Neary Ltd. the lease of 10½ acres of sea bed (lease No. 6) in Mahurangi Harbour for the cultivation of rock oysters.

The public inquiry will now commence at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, 3 December 1969, in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, and submissions, in terms of notice No. 124, should reach the under-named by Wednesday, 19 November 1969.

Bylaw Regulating Traffic on State Highways
PURSUANT to the National Roads Act 1953 and the Transport Act 1962 and all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling it in that behalf, the National Roads Board hereby makes the following bylaw.
BYLAW
-
This bylaw may be cited as the National Roads Board Bylaw 1969, No. 3.

This bylaw shall come into force on the day after its publication in the Gazette.

In this bylaw “trailer” shall have the meaning assigned to it in the Transport Act 1962.

No person shall take, draw, or propel, or cause or permit to be taken, drawn, or propelled any trailer along, upon, or over the Cascade Camp - Milford Sound (Homer Tunnel) section of the No. 94 State Highway (Gore - Milford Sound) unless the consent thereto in writing is first obtained of the National Roads Board or of some person authorised by the National Roads Board to give such consent on its behalf; and any consent so given may be given subject to such conditions as the National Roads Board or such authorised person thinks fit to impose.

Every person who commits an offence against this bylaw shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100).

The National Roads Board bylaw 1954/1, made on the 19th day of November 1954, is hereby revoked.
This bylaw was made by resolution duly passed at a meeting of the National Roads Board held in Wellington on the 20th day of October 1969.

Bylaw Prohibiting the Towing of Caravans and the Use of Vehicles over 40 Ft in Length on That Portion of No. 73 State Highway (Christchurch-Kumara) between Arthur’s Pass and Otira
PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the National Roads Act 1953, and to all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling it, the National Roads Board hereby makes the following bylaw.
BYLAW

This bylaw may be cited as the National Roads Board Bylaw 1969/1.
-
This bylaw shall come into force on the 1st day of December 1969.

This bylaw shall apply to the summit of Arthur’s Pass to Barrack Creek (near Otira) section of No. 73 State Highway (Christchurch-Kumara).
-
No person shall drive or take or operate, or permit to be driven or taken or operated on the portion of highway above-described any vehicle if the vehicle or its load or both exceed 40 ft.
-
No person shall tow or permit to be towed any caravan on the portion of highway above described.
-
Every person who commits an offence against this bylaw is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $100.00.

National Roads Board bylaws 1964/2 (Gazette, 1964, p. 1642) and 1966/2 (Gazette, 1966, p. 1681) are revoked.
This bylaw was made by resolution duly passed at a meeting of the National Roads Board held in Wellington on the 20th day of October 1969.

Bylaw Regulating Traffic on State Highways
PURSUANT to the National Roads Act 1953 and the Transport Act 1962 and all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling it, the National Roads Board hereby makes the following bylaw.
BYLAW

This bylaw may be cited as the National Roads Board Bylaw 1969/2.

This bylaw shall come into force on the day after its publication in the Gazette.

In this bylaw, unless inconsistent with the context, “vehicle” means a contrivance that is equipped with wheels or revolving runners upon which it moves or is moved.
-
It shall be a defence to any person being the driver of a vehicle who is charged with an offence of proceeding in the wrong direction along any part of a road or street which is part of a State highway and in which traffic is required to proceed in one direction only by any bylaw of the National Roads Board if he proves:
(a) That the vehicle was at the time of the act or omission actually engaged in a public work on the said road or street.
(b) (i) That the vehicle was being used on the said road or street with due consideration for other traffic using the said road or street; and
(ii) that the act of proceeding contrary to the direction of traffic prescribed in such bylaw was reasonably necessary for the purposes of that work; and
(iii) that he took all reasonable care to prevent the occurrence of any accident, mishap, collision or damage, or any injury to or interference with any person, animal, or property arising by reason of such act.
- For the purposes of this bylaw, and without in any way limiting or restricting their general meaning, the words “public work” shall be deemed to include the operations of cleaning roads or streets, whether by sweeping or washing or other mechanical means.
This bylaw was made by resolution duly passed at a meeting of the National Roads Board held in Wellington on the 20th day of October 1969.
