Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 128—Inquiry into Import Duties as Affecting Expanded Metals of Iron or Steel, Copper, and Aluminium
(Tariff Items 73.28.00, 74.12.00, and 76.14.00)

  1. Following receipt by the Minister of Customs of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority, the Government has accepted the recommendation of the Authority that urgent action is necessary in relation to the importation of the goods enumerated in the Schedule to this notice and has taken the temporary measures described in the Schedule pending inquiry and report by the Board.

  2. In accordance with the provisions of the Tariff and Development Board Act, the Minister of Customs has referred to the Board, for inquiry and report, the question of whether any new or increased duties are necessary in respect of these goods.

  3. The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Wednesday, 26 November 1969, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  4. Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, with the under-named no later than Wednesday, 5 November 1969. In preparing this evidence, the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses”, prepared by the Board, may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the under-named.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 129—Inquiry into Import Duties Affecting Pine Oils (Tariff Item 38.07.09) and Terpineol (ex Tariff Item 29.05.09) and Import Licensing Affecting Pine Oils

  1. Following receipt by the Minister of Customs of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority, the Government has accepted the recommendation of the Authority that urgent action is necessary in relation to the importation of the goods enumerated in the Schedule to this notice and has taken the temporary measures described in the Schedule pending inquiry and report by the Board.

  2. In accordance with the provisions of the Tariff and Development Board Act 1961, the Minister of Customs has referred to the Board, for inquiry and report, the question whether any new or increased duty is necessary in respect of pine oils classified in Tariff item 38.07.09 and terpineol classified in Tariff item 29.05.09. The Minister has also asked the Board to consider the question of exempting pine oils from import licensing.

  3. The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Monday, 1 December 1969, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  4. Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, with the under-named no later than Monday, 10 November 1969. In preparing this evidence, the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses”, prepared by the Board, may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the under-named.
