PURSUANT to section 15 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, extensions of commissions, transfer, and retirements of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

REGULAR AIR FORCE

GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH

Appointment

Flight Lieutenant Larry Alexander Olsen (79493) to be temporary Squadron Leader, with effect from 14 July 1969.

Promotions

Acting Air Commodore John James McDowell, M.B.E., Q.H.A.D.C., j.s.s.c. (70043), to be Air Commodore, with seniority from 19 March 1969 and with effect from 1 July 1969.

Flight Lieutenant John Lambert Alexander Pendreigh (624159) to be Squadron Leader, with seniority and effect from 24 July 1969.

Extension of Commission

Squadron Leader (temp.) Raymond Sidney Wilson (80718) is granted an extension of his short-service commission for a period to expire on 29 August 1974, to be followed by 4 years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers.

Flight Lieutenant Eric William Metcalf, B.E.M. (70601), to be temporary Squadron Leader, with effect from 25 June 1969.

Flying Officer Kenneth Arthur Roberts Butcher (78263) to be temporary Flight Lieutenant, with effect from 1 April 1969.

Flying Officer Thomas Joseph Stephenson (78615) to be Flight Lieutenant, with seniority and effect from 5 July 1969.

Transfer

Equipment Division

Pilot Officer Reginald Paul Warren (82939) is transferred from the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, to the Administrative and Supply Branch (Equipment Division), Regular Air Force, with effect from 26 May 1969. He is transferred in the rank of Pilot Officer, with seniority from 14 December 1968.

EDUCATION BRANCH

Extension of Commission

Flight Lieutenant Allan Bruce Herd (715765) is granted an extension of his short-service commission for a period to expire on 31 January 1975, to be followed by 4 years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers.

WOMEN’S ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE

Appointment

Section Officer Mary Eileen Maloney (81353) to be temporary Flight Officer, with effect from 10 March 1969.

to be a member of the Timber Preservation Authority.

Member of the Council of Legal Education Appointed

PURSUANT to the Law Practitioners Amendment Act 1961, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint

Maxwell Helier Vautier, Esq., of Auckland, Barrister of the Supreme Court of New Zealand

to be a member of the Council of Legal Education for a term commencing on the 1st day of August 1969 and expiring on the 13th day of May 1972, in the place of Russell Tonson Garlick, Esq.

Member of the New Zealand Gas Council Appointed

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Gas Industry Act 1958, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint Alfred Gaynor Beadle, being an officer of the Department of Industries and Commerce, to be a member of the New Zealand Gas Council, in place of Leverick Joseph Kenneth Futter.

Deputy Chairman of New Zealand Broadcasting Authority Appointed

PURSUANT to the Broadcasting Authority Act 1968, the Minister of Broadcasting has appointed Richard Thomas Peacock to be Deputy Chairman of the New Zealand Broadcasting Authority as from Monday, 4 August 1969, during the period of incapacity of the Chairman, Mr R. T. Garlick, because of illness.
