Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 118—Public Inquiry into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Domestic Capacity Measures of Whatever Constituent Material

  1. Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 94 (New Zealand Gazette of 17 April 1969) gave notice that the Board had been requested to inquire into and report whether any new or increased duties are necessary in respect of domestic capacity measures of whatever constituent material, classified in the several Tariff items set out in Schedule C to that notice. Interested parties were requested to forward, by 20 June 1969, such evidence as they would wish to present at a public inquiry.

  2. Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 107 (New Zealand Gazette of 19 June 1969) extended to 20 August 1969 the date for submission of evidence.

  3. The Board is now advised that the list of Tariff items in Schedule C to notice No. 94 should be extended by the addition of the Tariff items listed in the Schedule to the present notice. Domestic capacity measures classified in any of these Tariff items therefore come within the scope of the present notice.

  4. The Board has also now had referred to it by the Minister of Customs the additional question of the import licensing provisions for the domestic capacity measures already under reference as regards duties.

  5. The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 11 November 1969, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  6. Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be presented, under oath, at the public inquiry with the under-named no later than Friday, 24 October 1969. In preparing this evidence, the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses”, prepared by the Board, may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the under-named.

Dated at Wellington this 22nd day of July 1969.
