Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 69—Change of
Date of Public Inquiry into Import Duties on Yarn of
Discontinuous Acrylic (Including Modacrylic) Fibres
Weighing Not More Than 150 Grams per 9,000 Metres

  1. Notice is hereby given that, owing to the sudden illness
    of the Advocate of one of the principal parties to the above
    Inquiry, the Tariff and Development Board has acceded to the
    request that this Inquiry, which was to have commenced on
    Wednesday, 25 September 1968, be deferred.

  2. The Board has decided that the Inquiry will now commence at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, 17 December 1968, in the
    Board Room, 1st Floor, New Zealand Law Society Building,
    26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 72—Inquiry into
Import Duties and Import Licensing as Affecting Toggle
Clamps.

  1. Following the receipt by the Minister of Industries and Commerce of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority, pursuant to section 10b of the Tariff and Development Board Act 1961, Government has accepted the recommendation of the Authority that import licensing be maintained as a temporary measure, on those toggle clamps falling within Tariff item 82.04.19.

  2. The Minister of Industries and Commerce has, in accordance with section 10E of the Tariff and Development Board Act 1961, referred to the Board for inquiry and report the question whether any new or increased duty is necessary and also the question of import licensing in respect of these goods.

  3. The goods are subject to the following rates of duty:

  1. To enable the Board to determine whether a public inquiry should be held, interested parties are requested to forward to the Board, not later than Friday, 11 October 1968, a brief general statement of their views on the matters at issue.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 73—Inquiry into
Import Duties and Import Licensing as Affecting Hair
Clippers with Self-contained Electric Motor, and Parts Thereof

  1. Following the receipt by the Minister of Industries and Commerce of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority, pursuant to section 10D of the Tariff and Development Board Act 1961, the existing Customs duties were suspended and temporary Customs duties were imposed on hair clippers with self-contained electric motor, and parts thereof. (The Customs Tariff Amendment Order (No. 5) 1968 (1968/154) refers).

  2. The Minister of Industries and Commerce has, in accordance with the provisions of section 10E of the Tariff and Development Board Act 1961, referred to the Board for inquiry and report the question whether any new or increased duty (relative to the duties in force prior to the imposition of the temporary duties now in operation) is necessary and also the question of import licensing in respect of these goods.

  3. The goods in question are classified in the Tariff as shown below:

  1. Temporary duties as shown below came into effect on these goods on 6 September 1968.

Hair clippers with self-contained electric motor were formerly classified in Tariff item 85.07.02 (now temporarily suspended) and parts of such hair clippers within Tariff item 85.07.09 (now temporarily suspended). Both items were subject to duty at the following rates:

Plant Declared a Noxious Weed in the County of Golden Bay
(Notice No. Ag. 10308)

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950 and to a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture under section 9 of the Department of Agriculture Act 1953 for the purpose of the said section, the following special order, made by the Golden Bay County Council on 14 August 1968, is hereby published.

SPECIAL ORDER
THAT, pursuant to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, barley grass (Hordeum murinum) be declared a noxious weed within the County of Golden Bay.

Notice Defining Quarantine Grounds (Notice No. Ag. 10309)

PURSUANT to section 11 of the Animals Act 1967, the Director-General of Agriculture hereby sets apart and defines and specifies in the Schedule hereto as quarantine grounds for the detention of imported animals.

SCHEDULE

  1. All that piece of land containing 7 acres 3 roods 25.5 perches situated in Block IV, Belmont Survey District, Wellington R.D., being part Section 82, Hutt District, being more particularly defined on S.O. Plan 26956.

  2. All that piece of land comprising Somes Island, situated in Wellington Harbour.

Notice of Varied Hours for Sale of Liquor at the Mangamahu Hotel, Mangamahu

PURSUANT to section 221A (16) of the Sale of Liquor Act 1962, as inserted by the Sale of Liquor Amendment Act (No. 2) 1967, I, John Lochiel Robson, Secretary for Justice, hereby give notice that the Wanganui Licensing Committee, on 26 July 1968, made an order fixing hours other than the usual hours for opening and closing the Mangamahu Hotel, Mangamahu, for the sale of liquor to the public, as follows:

Mondays to Wednesdays inclusive, open at 9 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
Thursdays to Saturdays inclusive, open at 11 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.
