Local Agricultural Pest in Mimihau Pest Destruction District Declaration 1968 (Notice No. Ag. 10301)

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to the Agricultural Pests Destruction Act 1967, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

1.(1) This order may be cited as Local Agricultural Pest in Mimihau Pest Destruction District Declaration 1968. (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette. 2. The opossum (trichosurus vulpecula) is hereby declared to be an agricultural pest of local importance in the Mimihau Pest Destruction District. P. J. BROOKS, Clerk of the Executive Council.

Officers of Government of Ross Dependency Appointed

(ARTHUR PORRITT, Governor-General WHEREAS, by the Order in Council dated the 30th day of July 1923*, made under the British Settlements Act 1887 of the United Kingdom Parliament, the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand for the time being (thereinafter and hereinafter called the Governor) was appointed to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency, and all the powers and authorities which by the said order were given and granted to the Governor for the time being of the Dependency were thereby vested in him: And whereas the Governor was thereby further authorised and empowered to make all such rules and regulations as might lawfully be made by Her Majesty's authority for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency: And whereas, by regulations made by the Governor on the 14th day of November 1923†, it was enacted that all persons appointed by the Governor for the time being of the Dependency should have such power and authority as might be granted them in due course of law, and might be empowered to do such things as might be necessary or desirable to ensure that the laws in force in the Dependency are duly observed and complied with in every respect, and to do all things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve Her Majesty's rights and sovereignty over and in respect of the Dependency: And whereas it is expedient that the persons hereinafter named be appointed officers of the Government of the Dependency: Now therefore, I, Sir Arthur Espie Porritt, Baronet, the Governor-General of New Zealand, and as such the Governor of the Ross Dependency, hereby appoint Robin Faubister, Esquire,

as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Justice of the Peace, and also the powers and authorities which may be so exercised by a Coroner. And I also appoint Brian Crawford Hool, Esquire,

as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Postmaster. The said Robin Faubister and the said Brian Crawford Hool to exercise their functions at such places within the Dependency as may be directed by the officer for the time being appointed as an officer of the Government of the Dependency in whom is vested the general executive and administrative authority in preserving Her Majesty's rights and sovereignty and the laws and regulations in force in the Dependency; and to hold office and exercise the duties thereof during pleasure. PURSUANT to the Navy Act 1954, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, and terminations of appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy. Lieutenant Commander S. W. Hicks, V.R.D., engagement extended to 31 August 1968. Lieutenant Commander G. W. Bowie, engagement extended to 2 July 1970. Lieutenant Commander G. A. Hannan, placed on Retired List to date 23 July 1968, and reappointed until 23 July 1970. Lieutenant S. F. Teagle, promoted to rank of Lieutenant Commander and reappointed to date 1 July 1968. Chaplain P. G. Hutton confirmed in rank with original seniority of 1 July 1960. Chaplain C. A. Campbell, seniority antedated to 1 July 1961. Temporary Lieutenant J. K. Alexander, RNZNVR, entered in RNZN on an 8-year Short Service Commission in the rank of Lieutenant (Supplementary List) to date 8 July 1968 with seniority of 8 July 1962. Misses S. S. Diehl, L. S. Gray, R. M. Rennie, and J. H. M. Ryan, entered as Fourth Officer, WRNZNS, to date 11 July 1968 (amends Gazette No. 48). Dated at Wellington this 28th day of August 1968. DAVID S. Supernumerary List Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent George Skilton, M.C., is posted to the Retired List. Dated 29 August 1968.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS Regular Force Captain B. D. Chippendale to be temp. Major. Dated 24 June 1968. 35161 Warant Officer 1st Class Noel Peter O'Dwyer to be Lieutenant and Quartermaster. Dated 1 August 1968. Territorial Force 1st Reconnaissance Squadron (N.Z. Scottish), RNZAC Lieutenant I. M. Bolton, B.Sc., attached Christ's College Cadets, to be acting Captain. Dated 1 July 1968. 2nd Reconnaissance Squadron (N.Z. Scottish), RNZAC Lieutenant Theo Goodwin McGregor resigned his commission. Dated 1 May 1964.
