Exchange Control and County Boundaries




For the purposes of this determination the sterling area
consists of those countries set out in the Schedule to the
Exchange Control Exemption Notice 1965, S.R. 1965/159,
as amended by the Exchange Control Exemption Notice 1965,
Amendment No. 4, S.R. 1966/215.

Rhodesia from the definition of the term “sterling area”.

Special Order Made by Waikouaiti County Council Altering
Riding Boundaries

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, I hereby
publish the following special order made by the Waikouaiti
County Council.

WAIKOUAITI COUNTY COUNCIL

SPECIAL ORDER

Riding Boundaries

At a special meeting of the Waikouaiti County Council, con-
vened for the purpose and held on Tuesday, 26 March 1968,
the following resolution was passed to operate as a special
order and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the
said council, held on Monday, 27 May 1968.

RESOLUTION

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by section
23 of the Counties Act 1956, the Waikouaiti County Council
hereby resolves, so that this resolution may be confirmed at a
subsequent meeting of the council and operate as a special
order:

Firstly, that the present division of the County of Waikou-
aiti into five ridings be revoked, and in lieu thereof the said
county be divided into four ridings;

Secondly, that the said four ridings be named Hawksbury
Riding, Waikouaiti Riding, Merton Riding, and Blueskin
Riding;

Thirdly, that the boundaries of the said four ridings be as
described in the Schedules hereto;

Fourthly, that the alteration hereby made take effect on
the day of the general election of councillors to be held during
the month of October 1968.

FIRST SCHEDULE

HAWKSBURY RIDING

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, Waikouaiti County,
bounded by a line commencing at Trig. “D” Hummock, Block
V, Hummock Survey District, and proceeding north-westerly
along a right line between Trig. “D” Hummock and the south-
ernmost corner of Run 714, Block II, Strath Taieri Survey
District, to its intersection with the eastern boundary of Block
VII, Strath Taieri Survey District; thence generally northerly
along the eastern boundary of the said Block VII, to the
westernmost corner of Section 19, Block VI, Budle Survey
District; thence generally easterly along the generally northern
boundaries of Sections 19, 18, and 22, Block VI, aforesaid,
to the north-western side of the Middlemarch-Nenthorn-
MacRaes road; thence south-easterly along a right line to the
westernmost corner of Section 26, Block VI, aforesaid; thence
generally south-easterly and north-easterly along the south-
western and south-eastern boundaries of that Section 26 to its
easternmost corner; thence generally north-easterly along the
generally north-western boundaries of Runs 121H and 121G to
the north-western boundary of Block I, Highlay Survey Dis-
trict; thence south-westerly and generally easterly along the
north-western and the generally southern boundary of Block I,
aforesaid, to the middle of the Waikouaiti River (north
branch); thence generally south-easterly down the middle of
that river to a point in line with the northern boundary of
Hawksbury Survey District; thence easterly to and generally
easterly along the northern boundary of Hawksbury Survey
District to the eastern side of State Highway No. 1; thence
generally southerly along the eastern side of that highway
to the left bank of Watkin Creek and generally south-easterly
along that bank to its junction with the right bank of the
Pleasant River; thence north-easterly along a right line bearing
45° to the left bank of the Pleasant River and generally south-
easterly along that bank to the sea coast; thence generally
south-westerly along the sea coast to the southernmost corner
of Section 1, Block LXXIV, Town of Hawksbury; thence north-
easterly and northerly along the south-eastern and eastern
boundaries of that section to the south-eastern corner of Sec-
tion 79, Block LXVTI, Town of Hawksbury; thence along a
line running due east to a point due south of the easternmost
corner of Section 5, Block VI, Hawksbury Survey District;
thence due north to that corner; thence westerly and northerly
along the northern boundary of Section 5 aforesaid, and the
western boundaries of Sections 4 and 3, Block VI, aforesaid,
and Lot 1, D.P. 8602, to the southern boundary of Section
50, Block IV, Hawksbury Survey District; thence westerly along
that boundary and its production to the north-western side
of State Highway No. 1; thence north-easterly along the north-
western side of that highway to the south-eastern boundary
of original Section 2, Block IV, Hawksbury Survey District;
thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of
that section to its south-western corner; thence along a right
line to a point on the south-western boundary of Lot 5, Deeds
Plan 84, 20 chains distant from State Highway No. 1 measured
along that boundary; thence south-westerly along a right line
to a point on the north-eastern side of Quarry Road 18 chains
distant from its junction with the northern side of Mill Road;
thence south-easterly along the north-eastern side of Quarry
Road and easterly along the northern side of Mill Road for
a distance of 750 links; thence due south to the south-eastern
side of State Highway No. 1; thence south-westerly along the
south-eastern side of that highway and south-easterly along
a line running parallel to Henry Street from the westernmost
corner of original Section 8, Block VI, Hawksbury Survey
District, to that corner; thence south-easterly along the south-
western boundary of that Section 8 and its production to the
sea coast; thence generally south-westerly along the sea coast
to the mouth of the Waikouaiti River; thence generally north-
westerly up the middle of that river and its north branch to a
point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 1,
Block IV, Hummockside Survey District; thence north-westerly
to and along that boundary to the easternmost corner of Sec-
tion 5, Block IV, aforesaid, and westerly along the northern
boundary of that Section 5 to the south-western corner of
Section 6, Block IV, aforesaid; thence northerly and westerly
along the eastern and northern boundaries of Section 8, Block
IV, aforesaid, and the production of the last-mentioned
boundary to the western side of an unnamed road; thence
westerly along the northern boundary of Section 5, aforesaid,
and Section 4, Block IV, aforesaid, to the south-eastern side of
an unnamed road; thence south-westerly along the south-
eastern side of that road to a point due east of the south-
eastern corner of Run 171F; thence due west to that corner
and generally westerly along the southern boundaries of Runs
171F and 171G to the southernmost corner of Run 171G; thence
generally north-westerly along the north-western boundaries
of Runs 171G and 171C to a point due east of Trig. “D”
Hummock; thence due west to that trig., the point of
commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

WAIKOAITI RIDING

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, Waikouaiti County,
bounded by a line commencing at the easternmost corner of
Section 5, Block VI, Hawksbury Survey District, and pro-
ceeding along a line running due south to a point due east
of the south-eastern corner of Section 79, Block LXVII, Town
of Hawksbury; thence due west to the south-eastern corner
of that section; thence southerly and south-westerly along
the eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Section 1, Block
LXXIV, Town of Hawksbury, to the sea coast; thence gener-
ally south-westerly along the sea coast to a point in line
with the south-western boundary of original Section 8, Block
VI, Hawksbury Survey District; thence north-westerly to and
along that boundary of Section 8 to its westernmost corner;
thence north-westerly along a right line parallel to Henry
Street to the south-eastern side of State Highway No. 1;
thence north-easterly along the south-eastern side of that
highway to a point due south of a point on the northern
side of Mill Road 750 links eastward of its junction with the
north-eastern side of Quarry Road; thence due north to the
northern side of Mill Road, westerly along that side of Mill
Road and north-westerly along the north-eastern side of
Quarry Road for a distance of 18 chains; thence north-
easterly along a right line to a point on the south-western
boundary of Lot 5, Deeds Plan 84, 20 chains distant from
State Highway No. 1 measured along that boundary; thence
north-easterly along a right line to the south-western corner
of original Section 2, Block IV, Hawksbury Survey District;
thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of
that section to the north-western side of State Highway No. 1;
thence south-westerly along the north-western side of that
highway to a point in line with the southern boundary of
Section 50, Block IV, aforesaid; thence easterly to and along
that boundary to the north-western corner of Lot 1, D.P.
8602; thence southerly along the western boundaries of Lot
1, D.P. 8602, and Sections 3 and 4, Block VI, Hawksbury
Survey District, to the south-western corner of that Section 4;
thence easterly along the northern boundary of Section 5, Block
VI, aforesaid, to the point of commencement.

THIRD SCHEDULE

MERTON RIDING

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, Waikouaiti County,
bounded by a line commencing at the easternmost corner of
Block VI, Silverpeak Survey District, and proceeding north-
westerly along the north-eastern boundary of that Block VI
to the southern boundary of Block IX, Silverpeak Survey Dis-
trict; thence westerly and northerly along the southern and
