Member of the New Zealand Gas Council Appointed

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Gas Industry Act 1958, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint John Neale Leon Searle, being an officer of the New Zealand Electricity Department,
to be a member of the New Zealand Gas Council in place of Ernest George Davey.

Warrant Appointing a Member and his Deputy on the Waikato Valley Authority and Revoking Earlier Appointment

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the 26 day of July 1966, and published in Gazette, 25 August 1966, No 50, page 1336, Frank Frederick Abey, B.E. A.M.I.C.E. then District Commissioner of Works, Ministry of Works, Hamilton, was appointed to be a member of the Waikato Valley Authority representing the Ministry of Works.

And whereas by the aforementioned Warrant Reginald Ernest Hermans, A.M.I.C.E. then District Civil Engineer, Ministry of Works, Hamilton, was appointed deputy for the said Frank Frederick Abey.

And whereas the said Frank Frederick Abey has now been transferred from Hamilton to Auckland and it is considered expedient to appoint another member and his deputy to the Waikato Valley Authority in lieu of the said Frank Frederick Abey and Reginald Ernest Hermans: Now, therefore, pursuant to the Waikato Valley Authority Act 1956, the Minister of Works hereby cancels the appointment of the said Frank Frederick Abey as member of the Waikato Valley Authority and hereby appoints Reginald Ernest Hermans, A.M.I.C.E., District Commissioner of Works, Hamilton, to be a member of the Waikato Valley Authority, and the Minister hereby further cancels the appointment of the said Reginald Ernest Hermans as deputy to the said Frank Frederick Abey and hereby appoints Edwin Samuel Charrott, A.M.I.C.E., A.M.I.MUN.E., District Civil Engineer, Ministry of Works, Hamilton, to be deputy for the said Reginald Ernest Hermans.

Honorary Harbourmaster for Milford Sound Appointed

PURSUANT to the Harbours Act 1950, the Secretary for Marine hereby appoints

Roger Arnold

to be Honorary Harbourmaster for Milford Sound.

The appointment* of Robert Samuel Zeelander is hereby revoked.

Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 5) 1968

PURSUANT to regulation 16 of the Import Control Regulations 1964*, the Minister of Customs hereby WITHDRAWS the exemption from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations contained in the notice under the said regulation 16 dated the 29th day of May 1967, and published on page 1029 of the Gazette of the 15th day of June 1967, insofar as it relates only to that portion of the exemption described as follows:

Class of Goods

Goods temporarily exported from New Zealand for the purposes of repair or alteration or for use or exhibition outside New Zealand, or as patterns or for any purpose approved by the Comptroller of Customs and admitted on re-importation under section 165 of the Customs Act 1966.

Goods, being the produce or manufacture of New Zealand, or samples of duty paid goods sent out of New Zealand and admitted on re-importation under section 164 of the Customs Act 1966.

And, in lieu thereof, as from the day following the notification of this notice in the Gazette, hereby EXEMPTS from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations the following:

Class of Goods

Goods exported from New Zealand for such purposes as may from time to time be approved by the Minister, either generally or in any particular case, and admitted on re-importation under section 164 of the Customs Act 1966.

Goods being the produce of New Zealand and manufactured goods of any origin, temporarily exported from New Zealand for repair (i.e., restoration to a sound condition) or for use or exhibition outside New Zealand or as patterns, re-imported within 4 years from the date of exportation, provided that no alteration, other than repair, has taken place in the character of the goods since the time of exportation.

Works of art, collectors’ pieces and antiques, produced within New Zealand, and re-imported into New Zealand.
