Tariff Notice No. 1967/59—Applications for Approval
NOTICE is hereby given that applications have been made for the approval of duty by the Minister of Customs as follows:

Any person wishing to lodge an objection to the granting of these applications should do so in writing on or before 24 August 1967. Submissions should include a reference to the application number, Tariff item, and description of goods concerned, be addressed to the Comptroller of Customs, Private Bag, Wellington, and supported by information as to:
(a) The range of equivalent goods manufactured locally;
(b) The proportion of New Zealand and imported materials used in manufacture;
(c) Present and potential output; and
(d) Details of factory cost in terms of materials, labour, overhead, etc.

TARIFF AND DEVELOPMENT BOARD NOTICE NO. 57
PUBLIC INQUIRY INTO IMPORT DUTIES AND IMPORT LICENSING AFFECTING TAPES, WEBBINGS, AND BINDINGS WHOLLY OF COTTON

The Tariff and Development Board proposes to inquire into and report on the question of what rates of duty should be imposed on tapes, webbings, and bindings, wholly of cotton. The inquiry will also include import licensing as affecting such goods.

The rates of duty at present applicable are as follows:

This inquiry originates from a request for a determination to be made respecting such goods composed wholly of cotton in widths from ¼ in. to 4 in.

For the purpose of taking evidence on this subject the Board will hold a Public Inquiry commencing on Monday, 16 October 1967, at 10.30 a.m., in the Board Room, First Floor, N.Z. Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington.

Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the “Notes for the Guidance of Witnesses”, which have been prepared by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the under-named.

Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with these notes, should be lodged with the under-named not later than Monday, 2 October 1967. Each statement will need to be presented under oath at the Public Inquiry by the person tendering it.

TARIFF AND DEVELOPMENT BOARD NOTICE NO. 58
PUBLIC INQUIRY INTO IMPORT DUTIES AND IMPORT LICENSING AFFECTING FRAMES FOR HANDBAGS, PURSES AND THE LIKE

The Tariff and Development Board proposes to inquire into and report on the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on base metal frames with clasps for handbags and the like, and whether the present provisions allowing entry at concessionary rates of duty for certain types of change purse frames should be continued or amended. The inquiry will also include import licensing as affecting such goods.

During the inquiry consideration will also be given, in terms of the New Zealand - Australia Free Trade Agreement, to the question of the elimination of the margins between the British Preferential and the Australian Agreement rates of duty on these goods.

The goods in question are included in the following tariff item and are dutiable at the rates shown:
