Full-time Assistants in Secondary Schools and Manual Training Centres as at 31 October 1966

Attention is drawn to the regulations relating to appeals of teachers against their classification, under which any teacher who considers he has good grounds for objection to his classification may lodge an appeal with the Director-General of Education. Any such appeal should reach the Director-General not later than 5 June 1967, and should contain an explicit statement of the grounds on which the appeal is based. Forms for the purpose of an appeal may be obtained on application to the District Superintendent of Education, Private Bag, Newmarket, Auckland; P.O. Box 8011, Wellington; or P.O. Box 2612, Christchurch.

Notes—(1) In accordance with regulation 54 (1) of the Education (Assessment, Classification, and Appointment) Regulations 1965, the schools and teachers’ qualifications in the classification list show a teachers’ location and status as at 31 October 1966. Personal classifications are shown in the left hand column.

(2) In the last column of the classification list the following abbreviations are used: “Coll.” for College, “G.S.” for Grammar School, “H.S.” for High School, “T.C.” for Technical College, “T.H.S.” for Technical High School, “E.B.” for Education Board, “Mem.T.C.” for Memorial Technical College, “(M)” for itinerant Music Specialist, “M.T.C.” for Manual Training Centre or manual teacher, and “A.H.S.” for Agricultural High School.

(3) The letters A, B, C, and D show Posts of Responsibility held as at 31 October 1966: E, Deputy Principal; L, on leave; P, provisional grading.

(4) Teachers should address all inquiries to, and lodge appeals with, the appropriate regional office of the Department in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch.

(5) Teachers wishing to know their grading marks should also apply to the appropriate regional office of the Department. Grading marks are not available for provisional gradings.
