Notice of Approval of Titahi Bay Domain General Bylaw Amendment No. 1, 1966

Pursuant to section 165 (9) of the Harbours Act 1950, the Minister of Marine hereby gives notice that he approves the General Bylaw Amendment No. 1, 1966, made by the Titahi Bay Domain Board.

Declaring Area for the Operation of Motor Launches in Queenstown Bay, Lake Wakatipu: Wakatipu Boating Association Incorporated

Pursuant to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962, the Minister of Marine hereby declares that, for a period of five years from the date hereof, subject to compliance with the conditions set forth in the First Schedule hereto, the area of water described in the Second Schedule hereto shall not be subject to regulation 11 of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ALL that area of water in Queenstown Bay, Lake Wakatipu, contained within a rectangle, the southernmost boundary of which is a line running in a 47° direction for 792 yds from the red-lighted beacon situated on the point of the submerged reef 385 yds, more or less, westward of Scott Memorial, Queenstown, and the westernmost boundary of which runs in a 317° direction for 75 yds from the aforesaid beacon.

SECOND SCHEDULE

  1. The area described in the First Schedule hereto shall be shown on a plan of the lake, which shall be displayed on the lower portion of the notice boards measuring not less than 4 ft by 3 ft, painted bright orange with black lettering—which notice boards shall be erected on the northern and southern lake shore, at right angles to the 792-yd boundary lines.
  2. The upper portion of the aforesaid notice boards shall contain the following notice:

“NOTICE
Motor Launch Regulations 1962
There is no speed restriction for motor launches using the area depicted on the plan below”.

The Motor Launch (Lake Whakamaru) Notice 1966

Pursuant to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962*, the Minister of Marine hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Motor Launch (Lake Whakamaru) Notice 1966.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette, and shall expire at the end of two years after that date.
  2. Regulations 11 and 12 of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962* shall not apply with respect to powered vessels and water skiers operating in the area of water described in the First Schedule hereto; subject to compliance with the conditions specified in the Second Schedule hereto, and so long as the notices specified in clauses 3 and 4 of that Schedule are erected in accordance with those clauses,

FIRST SCHEDULE

ALL the waters of Lake Whakamaru south of National Grid Line 469400 yds north, and west of North Island National Grid line 331500 yds east, except the waters within 100 ft of the northern shore of the lake.

SECOND SCHEDULE

  1. No person shall propel or navigate a powered vessel at a proper speed greater than five miles per hour when—
    (a) Within 100 ft of any other vessel; or
    (b) Within 100 ft of any person in the water or bathing or fishing.
  2. During the period 1 October to 30 April the area described in the First Schedule hereto shall only be used during the hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  3. The area of water described in the First Schedule hereto shall be shown cross-hatched on a plan of the lake on a scale not less than five chains to one in., which shall be displayed on the lower portion of a notice board measuring not less than 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft, painted bright orange with black lettering, which notice board shall be erected at each place where boats are normally launched.
  4. The upper and middle portion of the aforesaid notice board shall contain the following notice—

“NOTICE
Motor Launch Regulations 1962
There is no speed restriction for motor launches and waterskiers using the area shown cross-hatched on the plan below
No person shall propel or navigate a powered vessel at a proper speed greater than five miles per hour when—
(a) Within 100 ft of any other vessel; or
(b) Within 100 ft of any person in the water or bathing or fishing.
During the period 1 October to 30 April of each year the area shall only be used during the hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.”

Notice Concerning the Stopping of Vehicles on Roads

It is hereby notified that, pursuant to the National Roads Board Bylaw 1958, No. 1*, the Board has, by a resolution carried at its meeting on 19 October 1966, prohibited the stopping of vehicles at all times on that portion of the State highway described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

ON No. 1 State Highway, in Hornby Township, Paparua County, for a distance of 30 ft on each side of the entrance and exit to Woolworths Ltd. car park, as shown in red on plan M.O.W. No. 12976, HCH 2671.

Notice Prohibiting the Parking of Vehicles on Portion of State Highway

It is hereby notified that, pursuant to National Roads Board Bylaw 1958, No. 1*, the Board has, by resolution carried at its meeting on 19 October 1966, prohibited the parking of vehicles on the portion of State highway described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

ON that side of No. 45 State Highway fronting the War Memorial Hall, Manaia Town District, for a distance of 74 ft.
