  1. Haulage, Handling, Sorting, and Transhipment Charges—Port Stations—continued

Omit paragraph 7 and substitute

  1. Transhipments—The Department reserves the right to decide whether wagons shall be supplied for goods to be hauled from ship to ship at a port.

Except as otherwise provided, bona fide transhipments from one vessel to another at the same port will be charged for haulage and storage at the following rates:

(a) When the goods are received ex ship into wagons and hauled to another ship for reshipment within 36 hours a haulage charge of 7s. per ton (minimum charge 35s. per four-wheeled wagon) will apply.

(b) When the goods are received ex ship into wagons and are not reshipped within 36 hours or are hauled to shed for storage and afterwards redelivered to ship, a transhipment charge of 9s. per ton (minimum charge 4s. 6d.) will be made to cover handling in shed (or detention of wagons) and storage up to one week. In addition, charges totalling 14s. per ton will be made for haulage from the ship and to the ship as specified in sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph 5 of this section (minimum charge 35s. per four-wheeled wagon). After the expiry of one week, storage will be charged at the rate ordinarily chargeable for storage at the station concerned.

(c) For the purposes of charging under the provisions of this paragraph the following basis will apply:

(i) The weight of timber will be calculated as follows:
    Hardwood    ..  ..  ..  ..  350 sup. ft. to the ton.
    All other timbers ..  ..  ..  450 sup. ft. to the ton.

(ii) In computing the period of 36 hours referred to in sub-paragraphs (b) and (c) hereof the following days will be treated as dies non:
    Saturdays
    Sundays
    2 January
    other days on which goods sheds are closed, including Anniversary Day, or the day observed in lieu thereof, in each province.

Add the following new subparagraph (c) to paragraph 8—

(c) Bogie wagons will be charged at twice the rate for four-wheeled wagons.

Insert new paragraph:

  1. Computation—Bogie wagons will be charged at twice the rate for four-wheeled wagons.

  2. Cranage

Omit paragraph 1 and substitute:

  1. Charges—Except as otherwise provided, cranage charges for the use of the Department’s cranes, forklifts, and similar mechanical lifting devices, based on the aggregate weight of the craned goods in each consignment will be made as follows:

Goods (except timber) for which a loading or unloading charge is prescribed .. .. .. .. .. under the provision of section 122, paragraph 2.

Timber (all types) .. .. .. .. .. under the provision of section 75, paragraph 15.

Goods not otherwise specified .. .. .. .. At the following rates:

—— Charge for Cranage
Up to 1 ton per article Free
Exceeding 1 ton but not exceeding 30 cwt per article 3s. per ton. Minimum charge 3s. per consignment.
Exceeding 30 cwt per article 9s. per ton (for unusual lifts see also section 125, paragraph 3 (b))
