The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specifications being Circulated
—
PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the draft New Zealand standard specifications listed in the Schedule hereto are being circulated.
All persons who may be affected by these specifications and who desire to comment thereon may, on application, obtain copies on loan from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Private Bag, Wellington C. 1.
The closing dates for the receipt of comment on the respective drafts are shown in the third column of the said Schedule.

I, John Francis Cummings, Comptroller of Customs, give notice that I have applied to the Indecent Publications Tribunal for a decision as to whether the book The Nude Who Never, by Ted Mark, published by Lancer Books Incorporated, 185 Madison Avenue, New York, U.S.A., is indecent or not, or for a decision as to its classification.

Approval of Red Reflectors for Heavy Motor Vehicles (being Goods-service Vehicles), in Terms of the Traffic Regulations 1956

PURSUANT to regulation 41 (4) of the Traffic Regulations 1956*, the Commissioner of Transport hereby approves, for the purposes of the said regulations, red reflectors of make and type described in the schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE
ANY red reflector bearing the certification mark of the British Standards Institute together with the letters and figures B.S. 2515 G.R. 1 or G.R. 2 and the manufacturers name or trademark, and having a minimum lens diameter of 2½ in. or an area of at least 5 sq. in. with no dimension less than 1 in.

Plants Declared Noxious Weeds in the County of Ashburton (Notice No. Ag. 9005)

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, and to a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture under section 9 of the Department of Agriculture Act 1953 for the purposes of the said section, the following special order, made by the Ashburton County Council on the 22nd day of April 1966, is hereby published.

SPECIAL ORDER
THAT, pursuant to the provisions of section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Council of the County of Ashburton hereby resolves by way of special order that:
Milk thistle or variegated thistle (Silybum marianum)
Saffron thistle (Carthamus lanatus)
Winged thistle (Carduus tenuiflorus and Carduus pycnocephalus)
be noxious weeds within the County of Ashburton.

Land Surveyors’ Examination, August 1966—Australia and New Zealand

It is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors’ Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyors, commencing at 9 a.m. on Monday, 15 August 1966.
Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Friday, 15 July 1966, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.
Candidates presenting themselves for examination in any written subject or subjects may present themselves for examination at any Chief Surveyor’s office, or at the office of the District Surveyor at Rotorua or Whangarei.
Candidates for the oral and practical portion of the examination must sit in Wellington. Plans for this portion of the examination, the certificate, and other evidence required by regulation No. 24 of the Survey Examination Regulations 1962 must be forwarded not later than 12 September 1966.
The fees for examination are as follows:

Tariff Notice No. 1966/47—Review of Former Tariff Concessions
—
DECISIONS in respect of goods approved by the Minister of Customs under item 448 of the former Tariff, as set out in Schedule I hereto, are to be reviewed.
Persons desiring, or objecting to, the admission of any of these goods under Part II of the Tariff now in force should lodge submissions in writing on or before 14 July 1966.
Submissions, headed “448 Review”, should be prepared separately for each of the decisions listed, and addressed to the Comptroller of Customs, Private Bag, Wellington, supported by information as to:
(a) Full details of composition and nature of the goods;
(b) Purpose for which they are to be used;
(c) Quantity and frequency of importation (in terms of actual annual requirements);
(d) Usual source of supply;
N.B. Where goods are not of Commonwealth origin, information as to availability from Commonwealth sources should be supplied;
(e) Availability (in terms of quantity, range, supply, etc.) of suitably equivalent goods of New Zealand production or manufacture.
Failure to supply information under all or any of the foregoing headings may prejudice consideration of the submissions.
Decisions in respect of goods approved by the Minister of Customs under item 448 of the former Tariff, as set out in Schedule II hereto, are revoked with effect from 14 July 1966. (The rates of duty for these goods under Part I of the Tariff now in force are the same or lower than the rates under item 448 of the former Tariff).
