Authorisation of 1965 Boat and Caravan Show
PURSUANT to the Exhibitions Act 1910, the Minister of Industries and Commerce hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires:
    "The Act" means the Exhibitions Act 1910;
    "The promoter" means the Auckland Manufacturers' Association and the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association;
    "The exhibition" means a public exhibition of boats and caravans to be conducted by the promoter at the Epsom Showgrounds, Auckland, from the 2nd day of October 1965 to the 9th day of October 1965 (both inclusive) and to be known as the 1965 Boat and Caravan Show.
  2. The exhibition is hereby authorised and declared to be an exhibition within the meaning of the Act.
  3. Subject to the conditions set out in the Schedule hereto the following provisions are hereby suspended in so far as they relate to work done or business conducted or services rendered in the said premises during the period of the exhibition, by or on behalf of the promoter, or by or on behalf of any exhibitor at the exhibition, or by any person employed in or about the exhibition, namely, such of the provisions of:
    (a) The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1954 and all awards and industrial agreements in force thereunder;
    (b) The Shops and Offices Act 1955; and
    (c) The Factories Act 1946,
    as relate to the hours of commencing or ceasing work, or to the issue of permits, or to the payment for overtime, or extended hours, or to holidays and half-holidays, or to the closing of shops.
    SCHEDULE
  4. Forty hours shall constitute a week's work to be worked on five days of the week and eight hours shall constitute a day's work in or about the exhibition, and, with the exception set out in clause 2 hereof, the daily hours shall be worked consecutively.
  5. No person shall be employed in or about the exhibition for more than four hours without an interval of at least three-quarters of an hour for a meal.
  6. (a) Any person employed during any day in or about the exhibition who is employed on that day for more than eight hours, or before the hour of 8 a.m., or after the hour of 10.30 p.m., or on any day in excess of five days per week (whether the excess employment is in or about the exhibition or otherwise) shall be paid for the excess employment at not less than half as much again as the ordinary rate for the first two hours and not less than twice the ordinary rate thereafter.
    (b) Any person employed in or about the exhibition on any day that would, but for the provisions of this order, have been a whole holiday for that person by virtue of any Act or of any award or industrial agreement shall be paid for all work done on that day at not less than twice the ordinary rate whether the work is performed wholly in or about the exhibition or otherwise: Provided that nothing in this sub-clause shall be deemed to deprive any person of any other payment for the said holiday to which he is entitled under any Act or award or industrial agreement.
  7. No male under 18 years of age and no female shall be employed in or about the exhibition after the hour of 10.30 p.m.
  8. For the purposes of the enforcement of an award or industrial agreement any provision of which has been suspended by this order, any officer of the industrial union or association concerned who is authorised in writing in that behalf by the union or association shall be entitled to interview at his place of employment any person employed in or about the exhibition under that award or industrial agreement at such time or times as may be agreed upon between the officer and the employer of that person, and for this purpose any such officer shall be entitled at any time to have access to the Register of Passes issued by the promoter.
  9. Nothing in this notice shall be deemed to effect any provisions in an award or industrial agreement requiring workers subject to the award or industrial agreement to be members of a union.

    SITUATED within Rotorua City:
    No. 5 State Highway (Tirau-Napier via Rotorua and Taupo) (from the northern boundary of Rotorua City to a point 1 chain measured north-westerly generally along the said highway from Kawaha Point Road; and from the southern boundary of Rotorua City to a point 23 chains measured north-easterly generally along the said highway from Old Taupo Road).
    No. 30 State Highway (Te Kuiti - Whakatane via Atiamuri) (from the eastern boundary of Rotorua City to a point 12 chains measured south-easterly generally along the said highway from Ti Street).
    Clayton Road (from Spencer Street to the western boundary of Rotorua City).
    Malfroy Road (from the western boundary of Rotorua City to a point 36 chains measured north-easterly generally along the said road from the said boundary).
    Marguerita Street (from the No. 30 State Highway (Te Kuiti - Whakatane via Atiamuri) to a point 3 chains measured easterly generally along the said street from Hilda Street).
    Mountain Road.
    Pukehangi Road.
    Sala Street (from the No. 30 State Highway (Te Kuiti - Whakatane via Atiamuri) to a point 40 chains measured easterly generally along the said street from Tryon Street).
    Sunset Road (from the western boundary of Rotorua City to a point 1 chain measured south-westerly generally along the said road from Edmund Road).
    SECOND SCHEDULE
    SITUATED within Rotorua City:
    Clayton Road (from Mountain Road to Spencer Street).
    Sunset Road (from the western boundary of Rotorua City to a point 1 chain measured south-westerly generally along the said road from Edmund Road).

    PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:
  10. The Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949 and regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* dated the 29th day of January 1958,† which relates to Lumsden in Southland County, formerly Lumsden Town District, is hereby revoked.
  11. The roads specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

  12. The Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 19th day of November 1960,* which relates to Rotorua City, formerly Rotorua Borough, is hereby revoked.
  13. The roads specified in the First Schedule hereto are hereby excluded from the limitation as to speed imposed by section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.
  14. The roads specified in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be limited speed zones for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956†.
