“(b) Where the total amount of such last-described money exceeds £1,000,000, not less than £900,000 thereof together with not less than 50 per cent of so much thereof as exceeds £1,000,000 shall be invested in New Zealand Government securities:

“(c) Any amount not so invested in New Zealand Government securities (excluding the amount required by section 24 (3) of the Act to be kept immediately available) may be invested in any of the ways specified in section 24 (1) of the Act.

“(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (5) of section 24 of the Act, money invested under paragraph (c) of subclause (1) of this clause on mortgages of estates or interests in land occupied or to be occupied by officers of the bank for residential purposes shall be invested on such terms and conditions as the Minister may approve in writing.”

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 90 of the Education Act 1914, as amended by section 10 of the Education Amendment Act 1952, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.


O R D E R

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Manawatu College Board of Governors Order 1965.

(2) This order shall come into force on the 1st day of June 1966.

  1. The constitution of the Board of Governors of Manawatu College, prescribed by the Manawatu College Board of Governors Order 1963,* is hereby varied so that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in section 90 of the Education Act 1914, the school shall be controlled by a Board of Governors constituted as follows:

(a) One member appointed by the Wanganui Education Board:

(b) One member appointed by the Foxton Borough Council:

(c) One member appointed by the Manawatu County Council:

(d) Two members elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school, being those parents who reside on the eastern side of the Manawatu River:

(e) Four members elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school, being those parents who reside on the western side of the Manawatu River:

Amending Order in Council Vesting the Management of the Wharves at Akaroa Known as “Town Wharf” and “Daly’s Wharf” in the Akaroa Borough Council

PURSUANT to the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby amends the Order in Council of 31 January 1956* vesting the management of certain wharves in Akaroa Harbour in the Akaroa Borough Council (which borough was, by Order in Council of 20 February 1957†, abolished and included in the County of Akaroa) and prescribing dues and rates to be charged and taken by the Council for the use of the said wharves, by amending in the Second Schedule thereto, the charge relating to fish per case by omitting the expression “(minimum charge) . . . 3d.” and substituting the sum of 6d.

Appointments

Engineer Division

Sergeant Brian Glenbourne Morrison Palmer (75324) is granted a short-service commission in the Technical Branch (Engineer Division), Regular Air Force, for a period ending 11 January 1973 to be followed by four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. He is appointed in the rank of Pilot Officer with seniority from 12 July 1964, with effect from 12 January 1965.

Corporal Graham Frankton Smart (78096) is granted a short-service commission in the Technical Branch (Engineer Division), Regular Air Force, for a period ending 11 January 1977 to be followed by four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. He is appointed in the rank of Pilot Officer with seniority and effect from 12 January 1965.

Flight Sergeant William Ronald Chappell (70751) is granted a short-service commission in the Administrative and Supply Branch (Equipment Division), Regular Air Force, for a period ending 11 January 1973 to be followed by four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. He is appointed in the rank of Pilot Officer with seniority from 12 April 1964, with effect from 12 January 1965.
