Roads Excluded from Speed Limitation, Closely Populated Localities, and Limited Speed Zone Declared

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That (a) so much of the Warrant under section 3 of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 1936, dated the 8th day of October 1937,* as relates to roads in Takapuna City, formerly Takapuna Borough;

(b) The Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 1st day of December 1952†, which relates to Pupuke Road in Waitemata County;

(c) The Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 19th day of December 1961‡, which relates to Glenfield Road in Waitemata County;

(d) The Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 6th day of March 1963§, which relates to roads in Waitemata County adjacent to Birkenhead and Northcote Boroughs;

(e) The Warrant under section 52 of the Transport Act 1962 and regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956¶, dated the 9th day of July 1964||, which relates to the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) in Takapuna City;

are hereby revoked.

  1. The roads specified in the First Schedule hereto are hereby excluded from the limitation as to speed imposed by section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

  2. The roads specified in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be closely populated localities for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

  3. The area specified in the Third Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956¶.

SITUATED within Takapuna City:

No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) (from Forrest Hill Road to the north-western boundary of Takapuna City; and from Northcote Road to Taharoto Road).

Northcote Road (from the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) to the south-western boundary of Takapuna City).

Porana Road.

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waitemata County adjacent to Birkenhead Borough:

Calliope Road.

Glenfield Road (from the northern boundary of Birkenhead Borough to Stanley Road).

Kauri Glen Road.

Onewa Road.

Pupuke Road.

SITUATED within Waitemata County at Glenfield:

Glenfield Road (from Kaipatiki Road to Chivalry Road).

SITUATED within Waitemata County and Takapuna City:

ALL that area, with the exception of the roads specified in the Second Schedule hereto, bounded by a line commencing at a point at the junction of the northern side of Sunset Road with the north-eastern side of the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff); thence south-easterly generally along the north-eastern side of the said highway across Sunset Road, Ellice Road, Ludlow Terrace, Woodall Place, Target Road, and Currys Lane to the western side of Forrest Hill Road; thence across the said highway at right angles to its northern side to its southern side; thence north-westerly generally along the south-western side of the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) to the south-eastern side of Porana Road; thence south-westerly generally along that roadside to the south-western boundary of Takapuna City; thence south-easterly generally along the said boundary to the north-western side of Northcote Road; thence south-westerly generally along the said roadside to the north-eastern boundary of Northcote Borough; thence westerly and south-westerly generally along that boundary and north-westerly generally along the northern boundary of Birkenhead Borough to the south-eastern bank of the Kaipatiki Creek; thence northerly generally along the south-eastern and eastern banks of the Kaipatiki Creek and the south-eastern banks of the Oruamo Creek and the Lignite Stream to a point in line with the junction of the north-western side of Glendhu Road with the south-western side of the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff); thence easterly generally by a right line to the said junction; thence across the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) to the commencing point; the boundary of the whole
