Alterations to the Scales of Charges Upon the New Zealand Government Railways

PURSUANT to the Government Railways Act 1949, the Minister of Railways hereby makes the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges made on the 21st day of May 1957 and published in the Supplement dated the 28th day of May 1957 to the New Zealand Gazette of the 23rd day of May 1957, and to the Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 26th day of October 1962 and published in the Supplement dated the 12th day of November 1962 to the New Zealand Gazette of the 8th day of November 1962, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways and hereby declares that such alterations shall come into force on the 13th day of September 1964.

GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES

PASSSENGERS

The fares and rates set out in regulations 1 to 37 inclusive with the exceptions indicated hereafter, are increased by 5 per centum; minimum increase 1d. The fares and rates so calculated are then rounded to the next 6d.

Exceptions—The fares and rates embodied in the following regulations are not increased:

  1. Ordinary Tickets

Paragraph 1: The fares scheduled in this paragraph are increased up to 8 per centum. Minimum increase 1d. Beyond 20 miles, fare milages are grouped as follows:

21-70 miles In 2 mile groups

71-300 miles In 5 mile groups

301-700 miles In 10 mile groups

Paragraph 1: Omit the schedule of fares and substitute:

Paragraph 1: The fares scheduled in this paragraph are increased up to 33½ per centum.
