Indecent Publications Act 1963

THE Indecent Publications Tribunal having considered the application by the New Zealand Council for Civil Liberties in respect of the book Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, has decided that the said book is not indecent under either subsection (a) or subsection (b) of section 10 of the Indecent Publications Act 1963.

Plant Declared Noxious Weed in the County of Taumarunui (Notice No. Ag. 8030)

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950 and to a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture under section 9 of the Department of Agriculture Act 1953 for the purpose of the said section, the following special order made by the Taumarunui County Council on the 25th day of June 1964, is hereby published.

SPECIAL ORDER

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 3 (1) of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950 and amendments thereto, and Extension Order 1960, the Taumarunui County Council hereby resolves by way of special order that the plant mentioned in the Schedule hereto is a noxious weed within the County of Taumarunui.

Describing the Boundaries of the Blenheim Abattoir and Specifying the Blenheim Borough Council as the Controlling Authority of the Blenheim Abattoir (Notice No. Ag. 8037)

PURSUANT to section 15 (7) of the Meat Act 1939, and to a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for the purpose of the said section, notice is hereby given as follows:

  1. The Blenheim Abattoir District shall henceforth comprise:
    (a) The Borough of Blenheim;
    (b) The Borough of Picton.
  2. The Blenheim Borough Council shall continue to be the Controlling Authority of the Blenheim Abattoir.

Election of Grower Representative on the Potato Board

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Potato Growing Industry Act 1950 and under the provisions of the Potato Board Election Regulations 1951, notice is hereby given that the roll of growers in the Northern Ward who are entitled to vote for a grower member on the Potato Board will be open for public inspection during ordinary office hours for a period of seven days from 19 August 1964, at the Head Office of the Board, Wellington, and at the offices of the Hawke’s Bay Rangitikei, Manawatu, and the Wairarapa Potato Growers’ Associations.

Nomination forms may be had on application to any of the above offices or from the Returning Officer, P.O. Box 6376, Wellington.

Nominations must be in the hands of the Returning Officer by not later than noon on the 2nd day of September 1964.

Classification of Road in Southland County

PURSUANT to regulation 3 of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1955,* the Commissioner of Transport hereby revokes so much of the Warrant dated the 22nd day of May 1951† as relates to the road described in the Schedule hereto and hereby approves the Southland County Council’s proposed classification of the said road as set out in the said Schedule.

Exemption from Equipment Requirements

PURSUANT to regulation 106 (1) of the Passenger Vehicle Construction Regulations 1954,* the Commissioner of Transport hereby exempts all passenger service vehicles, other than those first registered after the 1st day of April 1965, from the requirements of clause (6) of regulation 12 of the said Regulations.
