Reserve Bank of New Zealand

PURSUANT to section 45 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933 (as amended by section 23 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Amendment Act 1936), the Governor of the Reserve Bank acting with the authority of the Minister of Finance, hereby gives notice that, as from 29 July 1964, the balance to be maintained in the Reserve Bank by each other bank for the time being carrying on business in New Zealand in accordance with the said section 45 shall be such that, when added to that bank’s holding of Reserve Bank notes, it shall be equal to not less than 27 per cent of its demand liabilities in New Zealand, plus 3 per cent of its time liabilities in New Zealand, as shown in the last preceding monthly return furnished by that bank in accordance with section 46 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933.

Provided that the minimum balance to be maintained at the Reserve Bank shall not be less than 7 per cent of its demand liabilities in New Zealand, plus 3 per cent of its time liabilities in New Zealand.

For the purpose of this calculation a bank’s holding of Reserve Bank notes shall be as shown in the latest available weekly return provided under the Statistics Act 1955.

Varying Notice of Declaration of State Highways

PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice that it cancels the varying notice of declaration of State highway dated 20 December 1961, published in the Gazette, 18 January 1962, and varies the notice declaring public highways to be State highways dated 9 March 1960, published in the Gazette, 24 March 1960, Volume I, page 384, by deleting from the Schedule to the said notice the paragraph described in the First Schedule hereto, and substituting therefor the paragraph set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

PARAGRAPH deleted from the North Island section of Part II of the Schedule to the said notice:

Nos. 1 and 3 State Highways referred to in the North Island section of Part II of the said notices.

SECOND SCHEDULE

PARAGRAPH substituted in the North Island section of Part II of the Schedule to the said notice:

Hamilton—

No. 1 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the city along the Great South Road, Gurnell Avenue, Ulster Street, Victoria Street, Bridge Street, Cobham Drive, Sillary Street, Hoopers Road, and Cambridge Road to the eastern boundary of the city.

No. 3 State Highway. Commencing at the intersection of Cobham Drive and Normandy Avenue proceeding along Normandy Avenue and Ohaupo Road to the southern boundary of the city.

National Roads Board—Notice Prohibiting the Parking of Vehicles on a State Highway

It is hereby notified that, pursuant to the National Roads Board Bylaw 1958 No. 1,* the Board has by a resolution carried at its meeting on 16 April 1964, prohibited the parking of vehicles at all times on both sides of No. 2 State Highway (McKenzie Street, Petone) commencing at the intersection with Korokoro Road and extending southwards for a distance of approximately 700 yd on the western side and approximately 731 yd on the eastern side.

Approval of Red Reflectors for Motor Vehicles in Terms of the Traffic Regulations 1956

PURSUANT to clause (2) of regulation 41 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* the Commissioner of Transport hereby approves for the purpose of the said regulations red reflectors of the makes and types described in the Schedule hereto. These red reflectors are not to be used for heavy trucks.

SCHEDULE

TAIL lamp lens marked B.S.S. 2515G2 Elco and incorporating reflex red reflectors.

Approval of “Fire” Sign in Terms of the Traffic Regulations 1956

PURSUANT to clause 4A of regulation 43 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* the Commissioner of Transport hereby approves, for the purpose of the said regulation, of the identification sign of the type described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

An illuminated sign approximately 9 in. long by 3 in. high displaying the word “FIRE” in amber coloured letters about 2¼ in. high with a stroke width of ¼ in. and having the letters as widely spaced as practicable. The sign is to be displayed from inside the windscreen on the nearside whenever the siren is being used.
