Exempting Land in the Westland Land District from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
THE land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of land containing 32 perches, more or less, being Lot 174, on Deposited Plan 86 of the Township of Blackball, and being part of Section 3, Block II, Mawheranui Survey District, and being part of the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 28, folio 92 (Westland Registry), save and excepting for Her Majesty the Queen all seams or beds of coal and all other minerals and metals and reserving always to Her Majesty the Queen and all persons lawfully entitled to work the said coal, minerals, and metals, a right of ingress, egress, and regress under the said land.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 13th day of December 1963.

Notice Declaring Land To Be a Private Burial Ground, To Be Known as the Pendle Hill Private Burial Ground
BERNARD FERGUSSON, Governor-General
PURSUANT to section 2 of the Cemeteries Amendment Act 1912, I, Bernard Fergusson, Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby declare the land described in the Schedule hereto to be a private burial ground, subject to the provisions of the said Act, to be called and known by the name of the Pendle Hill Private Burial Ground.
And I do further declare the descendants of the late Samuel Fletcher, late of Onga Onga, farmer, and the late Harriet Fletcher, his wife, and their relatives and close friends, to be the class of persons who may hereafter be buried in the said private burial ground.
SCHEDULE
ALL that land being Lot 1 on a plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Napier as Number 10749 and being situated wholly within Block 49 of the Wakarara Crown Grant District and being all that area bounded by a line commencing at a post situated 14·8 links on a bearing of 338° 16′ 30″ from an iron tube designated as IT III on the said plan Number 10749, thence generally northwards on a bearing of 338° 16′ 30″ for a distance of 230·7 links; thence generally westwards on a bearing of 246° 07′ 40″ for a distance of 433·8 links; thence generally in a southerly direction on a bearing of 158° 16′ 30″ for a distance of 230·7 links; thence generally in an easterly direction to the point of commencement.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of December 1963.

His Excellency the Governor-General has, pursuant to the Navy Act 1954, approved the following appointments and promotions in the Royal New Zealand Navy.
Lieutenant J. R. Clarke promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, to date 1 October 1963.
Lieutenant S. C. Keeley released (age), to date 21 October 1963, and placed on Retired List, to date 22 October 1963.
Acting Lieutenant (Sp) G. G. Howard confirmed in rank, 18 June 1963, with seniority of 18 June 1962.
Sub-Lieutenant K. N. Cameron promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and reappointed, to date 20 September 1963.
Sub-Lieutenant F. G. George advanced to Assistant Surveyor 3rd Class and reappointed, to date 1 July 1963.
Sub-Lieutenant P. C. Hicks promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, to date 1 July 1963 with seniority of 1 July 1963.
Sub-Lieutenant H. E. Millar promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and reappointed, to date 4 October 1963.
Sub-Lieutenant J. V. Burr, RNZNVR, entered in the rank of Temporary Acting Lieutenant, under a short-service engagement, from 9 November 1963 with seniority of that date.
Corrigendum
In the notice published in Gazette No. 34, 13 June 1963, page 801, notifying the appointment of a member of the New Zealand Naval Board, in line 8, for “Supplementary List” read “General List”.

PURSUANT to section 19 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointment and relinquishment of appointment of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

Appointment
Air Commodore Thomas Francis Gill, c.b.e., d.s.o., i.d.c., j.s.s.c., p.s.c., is appointed acting Assistant Chief of the Air Staff for the period 22 November 1963 to 2 March 1964.
Relinquishment
Air Commodore William Hector Stratton, c.b.e., d.f.c., j.s.s.c., relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Chief of the Air Staff and Member of the Air Board, with effect from 22 November 1963.
