✨ Appointments and Military Notices




Pursuant to section 15 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, relinquishment of temporary rank, extensions of commissions, and dates of retirement, transfers, termination of commission, and retirement of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

REGULAR AIR FORCE

GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH

Appointment

Wing Commander Sidney Maxwell Hope, M.B.E., A.F.C., p.s.c., a.w.s. (70121), to be temporary Group Captain, with effect from 21 October 1963.

Promotion

Squadron Leader Bruce Allan Wood, p.s.c. (70184), to be Wing Commander, with effect from 1 November 1963.

Relinquishment of Temporary Rank

Wing Commander (temp.) Kenneth Allister Sawyer, D.F.C. (70104), relinquishes the temporary rank of Wing Commander and reverts to the rank of Squadron Leader with seniority from 1 July 1955, with effect from 1 November 1963.

Extension of Commission

Flight Lieutenant William Henry Willis (131865) is granted an extension of his commission until 31 December 1969.

Transfer to Retired List

Flight Lieutenant Edward John Ernest Tompkins (74750) is transferred to the Retired List "A", with effect from 3 January 1964.

TECHNICAL BRANCH

Engineer Division

Flying Officer Paul Selwyn Vercoe, GRAD.I.MECH.E. (775282), to be Flight Lieutenant with seniority from 30 August 1961, with effect from 1 August 1963.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPLY BRANCH

Equipment Division

Transfer to Retired List

Wing Commander William Francis Falvey, M.B.E. (70288), is transferred to the Retired List "A", with effect from 18 February 1964.

Special Duties Division

Promotion

Pilot Officer Christopher David Cole (80710) to be Flying Officer, with effect from 8 October 1963.

Extension of Date of Retirement

The age for retirement of Flight Lieutenant Alfred Errol Ansell (79203) is extended for a period of two years, with effect from 1 January 1964.

EDUCATION BRANCH

Appointment

Flight Lieutenant John Campbell Clift, M.Sc. (77256), to be temporary Squadron Leader, with effect from 13 May 1963.

MEDICAL BRANCH

Extension of Commission

Flight Lieutenant Allan McLean Thomson, M.B., CH.B., U.ABERD. (79375), is granted an extension of his commission until 9 March 1966.

AIR TRAINING CORPS

Appointment

John Dobson Irving, B.A., is granted a commission in the Air Training Corps in the rank of Pilot Officer, with seniority and effect from 26 September 1963.

Extension of Date of Retirement

The age for retirement of Flight Lieutenant (temp.) Alexander Calder, DIP.PHYS.ED., is extended for a period of two years, with effect from 8 January 1962.

Termination of Commission

The commission of Pilot Officer Jack Frederick Morrison is terminated, with effect from 27 September 1963.

Amendment

The notice published in Gazette, 18 July 1963, No. 42, page 981, relating to Flight Lieutenant John William Moynihan is hereby amended to read "with effect from 1 August 1963" instead of "with effect from 20 June 1963".

RESERVE OF AIR FORCE OFFICERS

Extension of Date of Retirement

The age for retirement of Squadron Leader (temp.) Robert Donald Salter, B.A., B.COM., DIP.ED. (133660) is extended for a period of one year, with effect from 10 November 1963.

Retirement

Flying Officer John Wilfred Martin (78108) is retired, with effect from 25 September 1963.

His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to constitute and appoint

Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, K.C.M.G., C.B., D.S.O. and Bar, M.C., E.D., Chief Justice of New Zealand,

to be the Deputy of the Governor-General commencing at 10 a.m. on the 6th day of November 1963, and during the period of the temporary absence of the Governor-General from New Zealand.

Pursuant to the Waterfront Industry Act 1953 the Minister of Labour hereby appoints

to be a member of the Port Conciliation Committee for the Port of Tauranga for a term expiring on the 31st day of May 1964.

Appointment of Members of the Clydevale War Memorial Board

Pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby appoints

Andrew Wolferton Anderson and Allan Arthur King

to be members of the Clydevale War Memorial Board, Otago Land District, in place of David John Cross and James Bayly Shaw, both resigned.

Pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby appoints
