Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 13—Public Inquiry into Import Duties on Protective Goggles; also Frames and Mountings and Parts Thereof for Goggles
- The Tariff and Development Board proposes to inquire into and report on the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on protective goggles; also frames and mountings and parts thereof for goggles. These goods are included in the following tariff items:
Item Number:
861.210.0 – Frames and mountings, and parts thereof, for spectacles, pince-nez, lorgnettes, goggles, and the like.
861.220.1 – Goggles and the like, corrective, protective, or other.
The present rates of import duty in respect of these items are:
British Preferential Free
Most Favoured Nation 15 per cent
General 20 per cent - For the purpose of taking evidence on this subject the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Thursday, 24 October 1963, at 10a.m., in Room 102, First Floor, Departmental Building, Stout Street, Wellington.
- Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the “Notes for the Guidance of Witnesses” which have been prepared by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the undersigned.
- Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with those notes, should be lodged with the undersigned not later than Thursday, 10 October 1963. Each statement will, in general, need to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.
