Notice Prescribing Colours of Registration Plates

PURSUANT to regulation 8 (2) of the Motor Vehicles Registration and Licensing Regulations 1949,* the Minister of Transport hereby revokes the notice dated the 19th day of May 1961†, prescribing colours for registration plates, and hereby declares that, in respect of the licensing year commencing on the 1st day of July 1963 and any licensing year thereafter, the distinguishing marks on dealers’ registration plates and registration plates for motor cycles and power cycles shall be embossed and coloured aluminium on a black background, provided that where the distinguishing marks on any such registration plates are reflectorised the distinguishing marks shall be covered with silver “Scotchlite” wide angle flat-top reflective sheeting, and the distinguishing marks on all other registration plates shall be embossed and coloured black on a yellow background.

Approval of Testing Officer Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940
