Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 9—Public Inquiry into Import Duties on Wrought Plates, Sheets, and Strip of Aluminium, Other Than Perforated

The Tariff and Development Board proposes to inquire into and report on the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on the under-mentioned goods:
Wrought plates, sheets, and strip, of aluminium:
Rectangular, plain, unworked:
Item No. 684.220.1. As may be determined by the Minister.
Corrugated:
Item No. 684.220.3. As may be determined by the Minister.
Other wrought plates, sheets, and strip, of aluminium:
Item No. 684.220.7. As may be determined by the Minister.
The present rates of import duty in respect of these goods are:
British Preferential Most Favoured Nation General
Such rate of duty not exceeding
25% 35% S 40%
as the Minister may in any case direct.
When such goods are not so determined by the Minister, the following rates of duty apply:
British Preferential Most Favoured Nation General
Free 5% 12½% -
The goods in question were the subject of Tariff notice No. 1962/30, of 20 September 1962, issued by the Controller of Customs.

For the purpose of taking evidence on this subject the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Tuesday, 13 August 1963, at 10.30 a.m., in the Board Room, Fifth Floor, Bowen State Building, Bowen Street, Wellington.

Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the “Notes for the Guidance of Witnesses” which have been prepared by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the under-named.

Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with those notes, should be lodged with the under-named not later than Tuesday, 30 July 1963. Each statement will, in general, need to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.
