Authorising the Minister of Electricity to Construct and Use Works in Connection with the Utilisation of Water Power from the Waiau and Mararoa Rivers and Lakes Manapouri and Te Anau for the Generation of Electrical Energy

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to section 311 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Minister of Electricity, until the 30th day of November 1963 or until the repeal of the Manapouri - Te Anau Development Act 1960, whichever is the earlier, to erect, construct, provide, and use such works, appliances, and conveniences as may be necessary in connection with the utilisation of water power from the Waiau and Mararoa Rivers and from Lakes Manapouri and Te Anau, and all their tributary lakes, rivers, and streams, in the land district of Southland for the generation and storage of electrical energy, and with the transmission, use, supply, and sale of electrical energy when so generated; also to use electrical energy when so generated in the construction, working, or maintenance or any public work; also to raise or lower the levels of all or any of the said rivers and lakes and their tributary lakes, rivers, and streams, and impound or divert the waters thereof; and also to construct tunnels under private land, or aqueducts and flumes over the same, erect pylons, towers, or poles thereon, and carry wires over or along any such land, without being bound to acquire the same, and with right of way to and along all such works and erections; and also to supply and sell electrical energy and recover moneys due for the same.

THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE, C.H., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to the Electric Power Boards Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
ORDER
- (i) This order may be cited as the Egmont Electric Power District Representation Order 1963.
(ii) This order shall come into force on the 29th day of June 1963.

The constituent districts of the Egmont Electric Power District, which are bracketed together in the first column of the Schedule hereto, shall be combined districts for the purposes of the said Act.

The local authority of each constituent district distinguished in the first column of the Schedule hereto by the letter "(P)" shall be the principal local authority of the combined district of which it forms a part.

The number of representatives of each constituent district and combined district of the Egmont Electric Power District on the Egmont Electric Power Board shall be the number specified in the Schedule hereto opposite the name of that constituent district or combined district.

The first election of the representatives of the constituent districts and combined districts of the Egmont Electric Power District shall be held on the day upon which this Order in Council comes into force.

PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice:
NOTICE
THE land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
ALL that parcel of land containing 141 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Subdivision 1 of Rural Section 3177, situated in Block II, Cobden Survey District (S.O. Plan 3222), but excepting thereout all veins, seams, or beds of coal and all other minerals.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 3rd day of May 1963.
