PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 8 of the Standards Act 1941, notice is hereby given that the above draft amendment is being circulated under the reference No. D 7369.

All persons who may be affected by this amendment and who desire to comment thereon may, on application, obtain copies free of charge from the New Zealand Standards Institute, Bowen State Building, Bowen Street, or Private Bag, Wellington C.1.

The closing date for receipt of comment is 4 June 1963.

Plants Declared Noxious Weeds in the County of Whangarei
(Notice No. Ag. 7760)

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, and to a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture under section 9 of the Department of Agriculture Act 1953 for the purposes of the said section, the following special order made by the Whangarei County Council is hereby published.

SPECIAL ORDER

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Whangarei County Council, at a special meeting of the said Council held on Friday the 8th day of March 1963 (of which due notice was given), resolved by way of Special Order as follows:

“In exercise of the powers vested in it by section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Whangarei County Council hereby resolves and declares that the plant mentioned in the Schedule hereto (being a plant mentioned in the First Schedule of the said Act) is a noxious weed within the County of Whangarei.”

Sedge (Carex longebrachiata also known as Carex longifolia).

(Notice No. Ag. 7764)

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, and to a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture under section 9 of the Department of Agriculture Act 1953 for the purposes of the said section, the following special order made by the Taupo County Council on the 13th day of March 1963 is hereby published.

SPECIAL ORDER

THAT the Council of the County of Taupo, acting in pursuance of the powers conferred upon it by the Counties Act 1956 and the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, hereby resolves by way of special order to declare the under-mentioned plants to be noxious weeds within the whole of the District of Taupo County.

Nodding thistle (Carduus nutans)
Milk thistle or variegated thistle (Silybum marianum)
Winged thistle (Carduus tenuiflorus and Carduus pycnocephalus)
Barley grass (Hordeum murinum)
Lupin (Lupinus aboreus)

Varying Notice of Declaration of State Highways

PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice that it varies the notice declaring public highways to be State highways dated 9 March 1960, published in the Gazette, 24 March 1960, Volume I, page 384, by deleting from the Schedule to the said notice the paragraph described in the First Schedule hereto, and substituting therefor the paragraph set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

No. 6 State Highway (Blenheim-Invercargill via Nelson and Greymouth)—Commencing at Blenheim and proceeding thence to Invercargill via Renwick, Havelock, Rai Valley, Nelson, Richmond, Brightwater, Wakefield, Belgrove, Spooners Hill, Korere, Clark Valley, Hope Hill, Kawatiri, Murchison, O’Sullivan’s Bridge, Lyall, Inangahua Junction, Westport Junction, Charleston, Tiromoana, Punakaiki, Barrytown, Rapatoe, Runanga, Greymouth, Paroa, Kumara Junction, Hokitika, Kaniere, Rimu, Ross, Harihari, Wataroa, The Forks, Waiho, Weheka, Karangarua, Bruce Bay, Mahitahi, Paringa River Bridge to Lake Paringa (a distance of approximately 4 miles south of the Paringa River Bridge).
