Special Order Made by Akaroa County Council Altering Name of Riding

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Akaroa County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

IN exercise of the power conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1956, the Akaroa County Council hereby resolves by way of special order that the name of the present Wainui Riding be altered to Harbour Riding, and such alteration to take effect as from the date on which the resolution is gazetted.

Dated at Duvauchelle this 5th day of October 1962.

I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Akaroa County Council held on the 5th day of October 1962 and was confirmed at the ordinary monthly meeting of the Council on the 30th day of November 1962.

Law Practitioners Act 1955

PURSUANT to the Law Practitioners Act 1955, notice is hereby given that on an appeal to the Supreme Court of New Zealand by Sydney George Cathro, of Patea, barrister and solicitor, against an order of the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Law Society of the 4th day of October 1962, it was adjudged by the said Court on the 13th day of December 1962 that the said appeal be dismissed, with the result that the said Sydney George Cathro be struck off the Rolls of Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of New Zealand and that he pay the sum of two hundred pounds (£200) costs together with the sum of forty-two pounds (£42) being the costs of the appeal.

The New Zealand Law Society Rules Under the Law Practitioners Act 1955 (Amendment No. 1)

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by Part VI of the Law Practitioners Act 1955, the Council of the New Zealand Law Society hereby makes the following rules:

  1. The amount of the annual contributions to the Solicitors’ Fidelity Guarantee Fund to be paid by solicitors to whom Part VI of the said Act applies shall, as from the 1st day of January 1963 and until a different amount shall be lawfully prescribed, be the sum of six pounds six shillings (£6 6s.).

  2. This rule shall be in substitution for Rule 1 made by the Council on the 3rd day of December 1929 (Gazette, 12 December 1929, page 3248) which rule is hereby revoked.

  3. These rules may be cited as the New Zealand Law Society Rules (Amendment No. 1).

The foregoing rules were duly made by the Council of the New Zealand Law Society at Wellington on the 6th day of December 1962.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Poripori Kumikumi Development Scheme)

PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice Registered No. S. 92166, dated 23 February 1955, and published in the Gazette on 10 March 1955, Volume I, page 375.
