Boundaries of County of Levels and City of Timaru Altered

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington this 19th day of December 1962

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1961, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. On and from the 1st day of January 1963 the areas described in the Schedule hereto are hereby excluded from the County of Levels and included in the City of Timaru.

  2. The alteration of the boundaries of the said county and said city hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Municipal Corporations Act 1954.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the County of Levels, Canterbury Land District, containing 622 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the southern side of Claremont Road and the middle of Otipua Creek, Block X, Arowhenua Survey District, and proceeding north-westerly up the middle of Otipua Creek to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 49, D.P. 492; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary to the abutment of Brook Street; thence north-westerly along that abutment and the south-western boundaries of Lots 101 to 111, D.P. 492, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Rose Street to the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 21324; thence south-westerly and north-westerly generally along the south-eastern and general north-western boundary of that lot and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of Gleniti Road; thence south-easterly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 20748; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary to the western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 10091; thence northerly along the western boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 10091, and its production to the middle of Pages Road; thence north-westerly along that middle line to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 10, D.P. 3898; thence northerly to and along that boundary to a line parallel to and 3 chains north of the middle line of Pages Road; thence easterly generally along that line to the boundary of the City of Timaru (Gazette, 1960, page 144); thence south-westerly along that boundary to the middle of Pages Road; thence southerly along a line parallel to and 2½ chains west of the western side of Morgans Road to the southern boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 18288; thence westerly along that boundary and the southern boundaries of Lots 3, 2, and 1, D.P. 17281, and 17 and 8, D.P. 16847, to the north-eastern corner of Lot 9, D.P. 16847; thence southerly along the eastern boundaries of Lots 9, 10, 11, and 12, D.P. 16847, to the mid-point of the last-mentioned boundary; thence easterly along a right line between the said mid-point of Section 12 and the middle of Covern Road to a line parallel to and 3 chains west of the original middle line of Morgans Road; thence southerly along that parallel line and its production to the southern side of Wai-iti Road; thence westerly along that roadside to the eastern boundary of part Rural Section 4884; thence southerly along that boundary to the northern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 9476; thence westerly along that boundary to the southernmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. 13096; thence northerly, westerly, and southerly along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of that lot to the northern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 9476; thence westerly along that boundary to the western boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 11505; thence northerly, westerly, and southerly along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of that lot to the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 11505; thence north-westerly generally along the generally north-eastern boundary of that lot to the eastern boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 6369; thence northerly along that boundary to the north-eastern corner of that lot; thence north-westerly generally along the generally north-eastern boundaries of Lots 5, 4, and 1, D.P. 6369, to the westernmost corner of Lot 3, D.P. 15727; thence north-westerly along the southern side of Claremont Road to the point of commencement.

Also, all that area in the County of Levels, Canterbury Land District, containing 17½ acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the western boundary of land contained in Proclamation No. 422133 (S.O. Plan 8829) and a line parallel to and 3 chains north of the middle line of Pages Road and proceeding northerly, easterly, and south-easterly along the western, northern, and north-eastern boundaries of the land contained in Proclamation No. 422133 to the aforesaid parallel line; thence westerly along that line to the point of commencement.

And also all that area in the County of Levels, Canterbury Land District, containing 17½ acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of Pages Road and in line with the middle of Kelvin Street and proceeding northerly along the production of the middle line of Kelvin Street to a line parallel to and 3 chains north of the middle line of Pages Road; thence easterly along that line to the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 16374; thence northerly and easterly along the western and northern boundaries of that lot to its north-eastern corner; thence easterly along a right line to the westernmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. 16374; thence easterly and south-easterly along the northern and north-eastern boundaries of that lot to a line parallel to and 3 chains north-west of the middle line of Old North Road; thence north-easterly along that line to the north-eastern boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 19552; thence south-easterly along that boundary and its production to the middle of Old North Road; thence south-westerly along the middle of that road and Pages Road to the point of commencement.

to be members of the Distribution Committee for the promotion of scientific research;

and also appoints

Appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy

His Excellency the Governor-General is respectfully advised, pursuant to the Navy Act 1954, to approve the following appointments, promotions, and terminations of appointment in the Royal New Zealand Navy:

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL RESERVE

Grosvenor Bruce Miles, RNZVR, entered as Acting Lieutenant Commander (E) 15 August 1962 and confirmed in rank with seniority of 12 November 1962.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE

Acting Lieutenant Commander (E) G. B. Miles, commission terminated 14 August 1962 on joining the RNZNR.

Temporary Acting Lieutenant Commander (Sp) L. A. Carr, appointment terminated on ceasing duty with the Sea Cadet Corps, 18 September 1962.
