Price Order No. 1893 (Bananas)
PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act 1947, I, Alan Brown
McLauchlan, pursuant to a delegation from the Secretary of
Industries and Commerce acting under a delegation from
the Price Tribunal, hereby make the following price order:

  1. This order may be cited as Price Order No. 1893 and
    shall come into force on the 21st day of September 1962.

  2. (1) Price Order No. 1869* is hereby revoked.
    (2) The revocation of the said order shall not affect the
    liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this order.
    (3) References in this order to metropolitan areas are references to the metropolitan areas described in the Schedule hereto.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
3. This order applies with respect to all bananas sold by way of retail in New Zealand.

FIXING MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICES OF BANANAS
4. (1) The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any bananas to which this order applies shall be determined as follows:
(a) When sold by a retailer carrying on business in any of the metropolitan areas of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin, or in any of the Cities or Boroughs of Whangarei, Takapuna, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Gisborne, New Plymouth, Stratford, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Napier, Hastings, Blenheim, Nelson, Greymouth, Timaru, Westport, Oamaru, Balclutha, Gore, or Invercargill—
1s. 1d. per pound.
(b) With respect to bananas sold elsewhere in New Zealand, at the rate of 1s. 1½d. per pound.
(2) If in respect of any lot of bananas the price calculated in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this clause is not an exact number of pence or halfpence, the maximum price of the lot shall be computed to the next upward half-penny.

PROVISIONS FOR SPECIAL PRICES
5. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the foregoing provisions of this order, and subject to such conditions, if any, as it thinks fit, the Tribunal, on application by any retailer, may authorise special maximum prices in respect of any bananas to which this order applies where special circumstances exist, or for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the retailer. Any authority given by the Tribunal under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of bananas, or may relate generally to all bananas to which this order applies sold by the retailer while the approval remains in force.

DUTY IMPOSED ON RETAILERS
6. Every retailer who offers or exposes for sale in any shop any bananas to which this order applies shall keep in a prominent position in such proximity to the bananas to which it relates as to be obviously in relation thereto a ticket, placard, or label on which shall be stated in legible and prominent characters the retail price per pound of the bananas.

Describing the Boundaries of the Dunedin Abattoir District
and Specifying the Dunedin City Council as the Controlling Authority of the Dunedin Abattoir (Notice No. Ag. 7435)

PURSUANT to section 15 (7) of the Meat Act 1939, the Director-General of Agriculture, acting under a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for the purposes of the said section, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. The Dunedin Abattoir District shall henceforth comprise the districts of the following local authorities—
    (a) The Dunedin City Council;
    (b) The Palmerston Borough Council;
    (c) The Waikouaiti Borough Council;
    (d) The Milton Borough Council.

  2. The Dunedin City Council shall continue to be the controlling authority of the Dunedin Abattoir.

Revocation of Standard Specification

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Standards Act 1941 and regulations made thereunder, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, on 12 September 1962, revoked the under-mentioned specifications:
N.Z.S.S. 772: 1950: Asphalt tiles for paving and flooring; being B.S. 1324 : 1946.
N.Z.S.S 1260 : 1955: Sizes of sensitised photographic plates; being B.S. 1406 : 1953.
N.Z.S.S 1492 : 1959: Tapes and spools for commercial and domestic magnetic tape sound-recording and reproduction; being B.S. 2478 : 1954.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Standards Act 1941 and the regulations made thereunder, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, on 13 September 1962, revoked the under-mentioned specification:

Amendment of Standard Specification

PURSUANT to the Standards Act 1941 and the regulations made thereunder, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, on 10 September 1962, amended the under-mentioned standard specification by the incorporation of the amendment shown hereunder:
Number and Title of Specification: N.Z.S.S. 1734:1962: Method for the quantitative chemical analysis of binary mixtures of nylon 6 or nylon 6·6 and certain other fibres; being B.S. 3069 : 1959.
Amendment: No. 1 (PD 3805).

Application for copies of the standard specification so amended should be made to the N.Z. Standards Institute, Bowen State Building, Bowen Street, or Private Bag, Wellington C. 1.

Copies of the amendment will be supplied, free of charge, upon request.
