Special Order Made by Paparua County Council

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Paparua County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

THAT in exercise of the powers conferred on it by

(a) In respect to riding boundary alterations—section 23 of the Counties Act 1956 and

(b) In respect to county town boundary alterations—section 416 (4) of the Counties Act 1956,

the Paparua County Council resolves by way of special order as follows:

  1. That the present boundaries between the Hornby and Sockburn Ridings and the Hornby and Sockburn County Towns be altered to the middle line of Springs Road in accordance with the boundary descriptions set out in the Schedule below.

  2. That the alterations hereby made shall come into force on and after the general election of the Council on the 13th day of October 1962, except in so far and to such extent as may be necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise providing for such election.


SCHEDULE

HORNBY RIDING

ALL that area in the County of Paparua, Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the south-eastern corner of Rural Section 3303, being on the northern side of Waterloo Road, Block X, Christchurch Survey District, and proceeding westerly along that roadside to the production of a line parallel to and 2½ chains north-east of the south-western boundary of Rural Section 885; thence south-easterly to and along that line and its production to the middle of the Main South Road (No. 1 State Highway); thence south-westerly generally along the middle of that road and Springs Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Rural Section 1239; thence north-westerly to and along that boundary and its production to the north-western side of Shands Road; thence north-easterly along that roadside to a line parallel to and 3 chains south-west of the middle line of Seymour Street; thence north-westerly along that parallel line to another line parallel to and 3 chains south of the middle line of the Main South Road (No. 1 State Highway); thence westerly along that line to the eastern boundary of Reserve 4146, Templeton Domain; thence northerly along that boundary and its production to the northern side of the Main South Road; thence easterly along that roadside to a line parallel to and 2½ chains west of the western boundary of Rural Section 1791; thence northerly along that parallel line and its production to the north-western side of Foremans Road; thence north-easterly along that roadside to the South Island Main Trunk Railway; thence north-westerly along a right line to the intersection of the middle line of Waterloo Road and a line parallel to and 3 chains north-west of the middle line of Gilberthorpes Road; thence north-easterly along the said parallel line and its production across Buchanans Road to a line parallel to and 3 chains north-east of the middle line of Buchanans Road; thence south-easterly along that line to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Rural Section 3303; thence southerly to and along that boundary to the point of commencement.

SOCKBURN RIDING

All that area in the County of Paparua, Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the middle lines of Yaldhurst Road and Racecourse Road and proceeding south-easterly generally along the boundary of the Waimairi County (Gazette, 1953, page 1991) to the middle of Middle Lincoln Road; thence south-westerly along the middle of that road, to and north-westerly along the middle of Halswell Junction Road, to and north-easterly along the middle of Springs Road to the south-eastern boundary of the Hornby Riding hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly generally along that boundary to the south-eastern boundary of the Yaldhurst Riding (Gazette, 1953, page 1275); thence north-easterly generally along that boundary to the point of commencement.
