Tariff Notice—Application for Determination of the Minister of Customs

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been made for the imposition of duties at the rates set out below, by determination of the Minister of Customs, on the goods described hereunder:

Any person wishing to lodge an objection to the granting of this application should do so in writing on or before 3 May 1962. Submissions which must be addressed to the Comptroller of Customs, Private Bag, Wellington, should be supported by information as to:
(a) The quality, range, supply, etc., of the above-described goods produced in New Zealand, and
(b) The landed cost and selling price, including c.d.v., and cost into store in terms of f.o.b., insurance, freight, exchange, other landing charges, duty, etc., of equivalent goods of overseas origin.

Wholesalers' Licences Under the Sales Tax Act 1932-33 Granted, Surrendered, or Revoked (A./L. 1962/2)

Pursuant to the Sales Tax Act 1932-33, the Comptroller of Customs hereby gives notice that licences to act as wholesalers have been granted to the licensees mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, and that licences to act as wholesalers granted to the licensees mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto have been surrendered or revoked.

Tariff Notice: Application for Withdrawal of Approval by the Minister of Customs

Notice is hereby given that an application has been made for the withdrawal of the decision admitting the undermentioned goods under item 352 (b) of the Customs Tariff of New Zealand:

(a) Boilers, economic horizontal types, having an evaporative capacity exceeding 7,500 pounds of steam per hour from and at 212° F, when fired with fuel of a calorific value not exceeding 12,500 B.T.U. per pound;
(b) Boilers, land or marine, vertical or water tube types, having an evaporative capacity exceeding 2,500 pounds per hour from and at 212° F, when fired with a fuel of a calorific value not exceeding 12,500 B.T.U. per pound; also steel chimneys therefore, including discharge ducts or chambers.
(c) Boilers, electrode, for producing steam;
(d) Waste heat steam boilers.

These goods are currently subject to the following rates of duty:

British Preferential Tariff Free.
Most Favoured Nation Tariff 20 per cent.
General Tariff 25 per cent plus surtax of nine-fortieths of the amount of duty.

The application will not be dealt with until 3 May 1962 and any person wishing to submit any objection thereto should do so in writing to the Comptroller of Customs, Private Bag, Wellington, on or before 3 May 1962.

Any such objection should be supported by:

(a) Information as to whether suitable equivalent goods are available or can be produced in New Zealand; and
(b) Details of landed cost and selling price, including c.d.v., and cost into store in terms of f.o.b., insurance, freight, exchange, other landing charges, and duty.
