Claims by Victims of Nazi Persecution in Austria

THE Minister of External Affairs has been informed that the Austrian Government is now accepting certain claims for compensation by persons who were persecuted on political, racial, or religious grounds in Austria between 13 March 1938 and 8 May 1945, and whose bank accounts, securities, mortgages, or cash were confiscated by the Nazi authorities, or who were compelled to pay certain discriminatory taxes. Claims for restitution of such property must be made not later than 10 June 1962.

Applications may be made by persons of any nationality whose property was subjected to the measures described or, in appropriate cases, by the immediate families or heirs of such persons. Any persons in New Zealand who might qualify for compensation or restitution should write directly to the Austrian Legation, G.P.O. Box 5, Canberra, Australia, for further information.
