Mention in Despatches, 1939 - 1945

The single bronze oak leaf Emblem signifying in the armed Forces and the Merchant Navy, either a Mention in Despatches, a King's Commendation for brave conduct, or a King's Commendation for valuable service in the air, if granted for service in the Second World War, 1939–1945, is worn on the riband of the War Medal, 1939–1945. If the War Medal has not been granted, the Emblem is worn directly on the coat, after any Medal ribands.16

Mention in Despatches, 1945, and Subsequently

The single bronze oak leaf Emblem, if granted for service in operations after the cessation of hostilities in the Second World War, is worn on the riband of the appropriate General Service or Campaign Medal. If such Medal has not been granted, the Emblem is worn directly on the coat after any Medal ribands.16 The single bronze oak leaf Emblem is also used in the Forces to denote a King’s or Queen’s Commendation for brave conduct or a King’s or Queen’s Commendation for valuable service in the air granted since the cessation of hostilities in the Second World War.

The Emblem of silver laurel leaves granted to civilians, other than those in the Merchant Navy, to denote a King’s Commendation for brave conduct during the Second World War, 1939 – 1945, is worn on the riband of the Defence Medal. When the Defence Medal has not been granted or the award is for services subsequent to the war, the Emblem of silver laurel leaves is worn directly on the coat after any Medal ribands.16

King’s Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air, 1939 – 1945, and Subsequently; Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air, 1952, and Subsequently

The oval silver Badge granted to denote a civil King’s Commendation or Queen’s Commendation for valuable service in the air is worn on the coat immediately below any Medals or Medal ribands.16 or in civil air line uniform, on the panel of the left breast pocket.

Scheme of Control of Pakuranga College

PURSUANT to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of the Pakuranga College being controlled in accordance with the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools 1961:* Provided that clause 10 of the said Standard Scheme shall be read as if the following proviso were added thereto:

“Provided that the first such election of members to the Board shall be held as soon as convenient after the 1st day of August 1961, but no later than the 6th day of October 1961.”

Scheme of Control of Lincoln High School

PURSUANT to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of the Lincoln High School being controlled in accordance with the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools 1961:* Provided that clause 10 of the said Standard Scheme shall be read as if the following proviso were added thereto:

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Wharekahika Development Scheme)

PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 20 July 1937 and published in the Gazette, 22 July 1937, Volume II, page 1680.

Tariff Notice—Application for Approval of the Minister of Customs

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been made for the classification, by approval of the Minister of Customs, of the under-mentioned goods under item 192 (1) (a) of the Customs Tariff of New Zealand:

“Bulked” fibro/viscose boucle yarn, for twisting with wool, for the manufacture of hand knitting yarns.

The application will not be dealt with until 24 August 1961 and any person wishing to submit any objection thereto should do so in writing to the Comptroller of Customs, Private Bag, Wellington, on or before 24 August 1961.

Any such objection should be supported by information as to:

(a) The range of goods manufactured;
(b) The proportions of New Zealand and imported materials used in manufacture;
(c) Present and potential output; and
(d) Details of factory costs in terms of materials, labour, overhead, etc.
