Transport Charges




  1. Small lots of goods chargeable at the rates specified in paragraphs 1, 3, and 4, will be charged
    as follows:

  1. Timber, wool in bales, and skins in bales, ex-ship, railed to Christchurch for sorting and returned
    to Woolston, will be charged as follows, including handling at ship’s side, sorting and all shed
    handling charges, and cost of tarpaulins:

Wool and skins in bales .. .. 6s. 8d. per bale undumped.
Timber n.o.s. .. .. 8s. 9d. per 100 sup. ft.
Timber, hardwood (charged at K plus

50 per cent) .. .. 10s. 9d. per 100 sup. ft.

  1. The charges for ship’s goods, Classes C, D, and G will be computed in accordance with regulation
    127, General Scale of Charges.

24. Storage Charges at Christchurch on Goods ex-Ship

  1. Goods discharged ex-ship at Lyttelton and conveyed to Christchurch for delivery will be
    allowed free storage on the first day they are available for delivery and the following day. After
    the expiration of this period, storage will be charged at the following rates:

For the first four days, per day or part thereof .. 2s. per ton. Minimum charge
.. .. 8d. per day.
Each succeeding day or part thereof .. .. 4s. per ton. Minimum charge
.. .. 1s. 5d. per day.

  1. When goods are stored in the open, storage will be charged at the following rates:
    For the first four days, per day or part thereof .. 1s. per ton. Minimum charge 8d.
    .. .. per day.
    Each succeeding day or part thereof .. .. 2s. per ton. Minimum charge 1s. 5d.
    .. .. per day.

25. Handling Charges on Motor Vehicles at Lyttelton

  1. The following handling charges will be payable on motor vehicles discharged from or loaded
    on to vessels at the Lyttelton wharves:

(a) For each motor bicycle delivered to or received from persons on the Steamer Express wharf .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 2 0
(b) For each motor vehicle or motor vehicle trailer delivered to or received from persons on the Steamer Express wharf .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 4 0

  1. The charges as set out in subparas. (a) and (b) of para. 1 of this regulation will also apply to
    inter-Island passengers’ motor vehicles conveyed by vessels used to supplement the steamer express
    service at holiday periods.

26. Port Traffic, Picton

  1. The charges for haulage, and sorting goods ex-ship for local delivery at Picton will be as follows:
