Limited Speed Zone Declared and Closely Populated Locality Declared

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. So much of the Warrant under section 3 of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 1936, dated the 19th day of September 1938,* as relates to Outram Town District is hereby revoked.
  2. The roads specified in the First Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.
  3. The roads specified in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be limited speed zones for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956.†

FIRST SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Taieri County at Outram—
No. 87 State highway (Mosgiel-Kyeburn) (from a point 9 chains north-east of its junction with Holyhead Street to a point 1 chain north-west of the junction of the said State highway with Formby Street).
Formby Street (from its junction with No. 87 State highway (Mosgiel-Kyeburn) to a point 8 chains south-east of the junction of Formby Street with Beaumaris Street).
Holyhead Street, Skerries Street, Lynas Street, Beaumaris Street, Orme Street, Bidston Street, Hoylake Street, Bell Street.

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Taieri County at Outram—
Formby Street (from its junction with Huntly Road to a point 8 chains south-east of the junction of Beaumaris Street with Formby Street).
Huntly Road (from a point 1 chain south-west of its junction with Formby Street to the junction of Huntly Road with the Outram-Allanton Road).
The Outram-Allanton Road (from a point 1 chain south-east of its junction with Huntly Road to the junction of the said Outram-Allanton Road with Orme Street).

  2. The road specified in the First Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.
  3. The road specified in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956.†

No. 10 State highway (Pakaraka-Awanui via Mangonui) (from a point 14 chains measured in a westerly direction along the said State highway from its junction with Waikare Road to a point 7 chains measured in an easterly direction along the said State highway from the said junction).

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Whangaroa County at Kaeo—
No. 10 State highway (Pakaraka-Awanui via Mangonui) (from a point 7 chains measured in an easterly direction along the said State highway from its junction with Waikare Road to a point 3 chains measured in an easterly direction along the said State highway from its junction with Martins Road).

Closely Populated Locality Declared

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That Warrant under section 3 of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 1936, dated the 8th day of May 1947,* which relates to an area at Benneydale in Waitomo County is hereby revoked.
  2. The area specified in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waitomo County at Benneydale—

All that area at Benneydale commencing on the north-western boundary of Ellis Road, at a point 40 chains measured in a north-easterly direction along the said north-western boundary of Ellis Road from the junction of the said road with Maniaiti Road; thence by a right line in a south-westerly direction to a point on the northern boundary of Ellis Road, 3 chains east of the junction of the said Ellis Road with Ohirea Road; thence proceeding southerly along a right line to the south-western corner of the Benneydale Bowling Club Reserve; thence easterly by a right line to the junction of Maniaiti Road with Mangapehi Road; thence proceeding in a north-easterly direction along the north-western boundary of Mangapehi Road to the south-western corner of the Benneydale School Reserve situated on the north-western side of the said Mangapehi Road; thence by a right line in a north-easterly direction to the commencing point, the boundaries of the whole area being further indicated by a red border on the plan marked T.T. 2381 and deposited in the Head Office of the Transport Department at Wellington.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Bay of Islands Development Scheme)

PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 12 June 1930 and published in the Gazette, 26 June 1930, Volume II, page 2054.

PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 7 May 1940 and published in the Gazette, 9 May 1940, Volume II, pages 1037 and 1038.
