Detailed Description of State Highways in Towns

NORTH ISLAND

Auckland—

No. 1 State Highway. From the intersection of Fanshawe and Beaumont Streets, along Beaumont Street, Victoria Street West, Union Street, Wellington Street, Pitt Street, Karangahape Road, Symonds Street, and a portion of Khyber Pass Road to the Auckland City boundary; through the Borough of Newmarket, along the other portion of Khyber Pass Road, and Broadway to the southern boundary of the said borough, re-entering the City of Auckland, along the other portion of Broadway; thence through the Borough of One Tree Hill and the City of Auckland and the Borough of Ellerslie, along the Great South Road to the commencement of the Auckland-Hamilton Motorway.

No. 16 State Highway. From the intersection of Pitt Street and Karangahape Road, along Karangahape Road and the Great North Road to the junction of the Auckland-Whenuapai Motorway.

Awanui—

No. 1 State Highway. Commencing at the intersection of Spains Road and Waipapakauri Road and proceeding via the main road to the southern boundary of the township.

Bulls—

No. 1 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the Town District of Bulls along High Street to its intersection with Bridge Street, along Bridge Street to the southern boundary of the town district.

No. 3 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the town district along Bridge Street to its intersection with High Street.

Cambridge—

No. 1 State Highway. From the western boundary of the Borough of Cambridge, along Hamilton Road, Victoria Street and Duke Street East to the eastern boundary of the borough.

Carterton—

No. 2 State Highway. From the north boundary of Carterton Borough along High Street to the south boundary of the borough.

Dannevirke—

No. 2 State Highway. From the north-eastern boundary of Dannevirke Borough, at Mangatara, along High Street and Stanley Street to the south-western boundary of the Dannevirke Borough at the Tapuata Stream bridge.

Dargaville—

No. 12 State Highway. From the western boundary of Dargaville Borough at Mangatara Stream bridge and proceeding thence along Colville Road, Murdoch Street, Mangawhare Road, Normanby Street, Jervois Street, Grey Street, to Northern Wairoa River bridge at the south-eastern boundary of the borough.

No. 14 State Highway. From the eastern boundary of Dargaville Borough at Awakino River bridge and proceeding westerly along Jervois Street to junction with Grey Street being junction with No. 12 State Highway.

Eketahuna—

No. 2 State Highway. From the north boundary of Eketahuna Borough along Main Street to the south boundary of the borough.

Eltham—

No. 3 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the Borough of Eltham along High Street North and High Street South to the southern boundary.

Featherston—

No. 2 State Highway. From the eastern boundary of Featherston Borough at Murphy’s Line junction, along Fitzherbert Street and Ludlam Street to the western boundary of the borough.

Feilding—

No. 54 State Highway. From the borough boundary along Kimbolton Road to its junction with Aorangi Street and thence along Aorangi Street to the borough boundary.

Foxton—

No. 1 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the Borough of Foxton via Russell Street to the junction with Avenue Road and thence via Johnson Street to the southern boundary of the borough.

Gisborne—

No. 35 State Highway. Along Wainui Road into Gladstone Road and on to junction with No. 2 State Highway at Makaraka.

Greytown—

No. 2 State Highway. From the north boundary of Greytown Borough along Main Street to the south boundary of the borough.

Hamilton—

No. 1 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the City of Hamilton along the Great South Road, Victoria Street, Bridge Street, Grey Street, Naylor Street, and Cambridge Road to the eastern boundary of the city.

No. 3 State Highway. From its junction with No. 1 State Highway at the intersection of Victoria Street and Hood Street, along Hood Street, Thackeray Street, Pembroke Street, Ohaupo Road to the southern boundary of the city.

No. 23 State Highway. From its junction with No. 1 State Highway at the intersection of Victoria Street and London Street, along London Street, Norton Road, Commerce Street, Waterloo Street, and Massey Street to the western boundary of the city.

Hastings—

No. 2 State Highway. From the north-eastern boundary of Hastings City, along Karamu Road, Eastbourne Street, and Railway Road, to the south-western boundary of the city at Murdoch Road.

Hawera—

No. 3 State Highway. From where the northern boundary of the Borough of Hawera crosses Waihi Road along Waihi Road to its intersection with the Main South Road; thence along Main South Road to the south-eastern boundary of the Borough of Hawera.

No. 45 State Highway. From where the western boundary of the Borough of Hawera crosses Main South Road, along Main South Road to the junction of Waihi Road.

Helensville—

No. 16 State Highway. From the borough boundary at the south-eastern abutment of the Kaipara River bridge, along Mill Road, Commercial Road, Garfield Street, and Railway Street to the northern boundary of the Borough of Helensville.

Huntly—

No. 1 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the Borough of Huntly along the Great South Road to the southern boundary of the borough.

Inglewood—

No. 3 State Highway. From the western boundary of the Borough of Inglewood at the Waiongona Stream bridge along Rata Street to Matai Street junction; thence along Matai Street to the south-eastern boundary of the borough at the Kurapete Stream culvert.

No. 44 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the Borough of Inglewood along Rimu Street to Rata Street; thence in a westerly direction along Rata Street to its junction with Matai Street.

Kaikohe—

No. 12 State Highway. From the north-eastern boundary of Kaikohe Borough at Wairoro Stream bridge and proceeding south-westerly along Kaikohe Road to south boundary of borough.

Kaitaia—

No. 1 State Highway. From the northern boundary of Kaitaia Borough at intersection of Great North Road and Donald Road and proceeding along Great North Road, Commerce Street, and Great North Road to southern boundary of borough.

Kawhia—

No. 31 State Highway. From the northern boundary of the town district along Pirongia Road and Jervois Street to the wharf.

Levin—

No. 1 State Highway. From the intersection of Kawiu Road and Oxford Street along Oxford Street to the intersection of Oxford Street and Hokio Beach Road.

No. 57 State Highway. From the intersection of Oxford Street and Queen Street, along Queen Street to Batholomew Road junction at the eastern boundary of Levin Borough.

Lower Hutt—

No. 2 State Highway. From the north boundary of Lower Hutt City along the Western Hutt Road to the south boundary of the Lower Hutt City.

Manaiia—

No. 45 State Highway. From the western boundary of the Town District of Manaiia along South Road to the eastern boundary of the town district.
