Licensed Industries Committee: Notice to Persons Affected by an Application for Licence Under the Licensed Industries Regulations

PURSUANT to regulation 14 of the Licensed Industries Regulations 1957, notice is hereby given that the following application will be considered at a public sitting of the Licensed Industries Committee, to be held in the Board Room, Department of Industries and Commerce, First Floor, Departmental Building Stout Street, Wellington C.1, on Wednesday, 27 April, commencing at 10 a.m. Applicants and persons likely to be affected by a decision of the committee should communicate with the Secretary, Licensed Industries Committee, Department of Industries and Commerce, P.O. Box 2492, Wellington.

Applicant: Tasman Pulp and Paper Co. Ltd., Kawerau.

Application: That the definitions of “newsprint” and “mechanical printing paper” contained in the company’s existing licence be deleted therefrom and the following substituted therefor:

“Newsprint and mechanical printing paper include all classes of papers of whatsoever kind or nature which contain any proportion of groundwood pulp and have a brightness of not less than 50 degrees G.E. excluding such classes as are necessarily and customarily made on an M.G. cylinder machine.”

All expressions used herein to describe any class of paper or board are intended to have the meaning commonly accepted within the paper trade in New Zealand.

NOTE—This application amends the application made by the above-mentioned applicant notified in the Gazette of 14 May 1959, No. 27, page 626.

For the purposes of the applicant’s existing licence “newsprint” means paper of the type generally used in the publication of newspapers and consisting of groundwood pulp with not more than 25 per cent of sulphate pulp and weighing between 45 to 60 grammes per square metre and “mechanical printing paper” means a paper consisting of groundwood pulp with not more than 35 per cent of sulphate pulp.

The Standards Act 1941—Draft Amendment to the New Zealand Standard Specification for Commercial Plywoods (N.Z.S.S. 985)

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 8 of the Standards Act 1941, notice is hereby given that the above draft amendment is being circulated under the reference No. D. 6225.

All persons who may be affected by this amendment and who desire to comment thereon may, on application, obtain copies free of charge from the New Zealand Standards Institute, 201 Lambton Quay (P.O. Box 195), Wellington C.1.

The closing date for the receipt of comment is 29 April 1960.

All persons who may be affected by this specification and who desire to comment thereon may, on application, obtain copies free of charge from the New Zealand Standards Institute, 201 Lambton Quay (P.O. Box 195), Wellington C.1.

The closing date for the receipt of comment is 30 June 1960.

Unclaimed Property—Notice of Election by the Public Trustee to Become Manager Under the Public Trust Office Act 1957, Part V

——

WHEREAS after due inquiry it is not known where the owner of the property described in the Schedule hereto is or whether he is alive or dead; And whereas the gross value of the said property (as estimated by the Public Trustee) does not exceed £2,000 and, for the purposes of subsection (2) of section 80 of the Public Trust Office Act 1957, the Public Trustee is satisfied that it is advisable that he should become the manager of the said property: Now, therefore, the Public Trustee, in exercise of the authority conferred upon him by the said subsection (2) hereby elects to be manager of the said property under Part V of the said Act.

SCHEDULE

ALL that piece of land situate in the provincial district of Otago containing one (1) rood, more or less, being Town Section 1, Block II, Town of Kurow, and the whole of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Volume 66, folio 202, Otago Registry. The registered proprietor of the said land is Robert Ferguson, of Kurow, engineer.

Declaring Public Highways to be State Highways

PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Amendment Act 1959, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice that the public highways described in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be State highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953 as from and including the 1st day of April 1960.

No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff)—Commencing at Awanui and proceeding thence to Wellington via Kaitaia, Mangamuka, Okaihau, Ohaeawai, Pakaraka, Moerewa, Kawakawa, Hikurangi, Kamo, Whangarei, Waipu, Kaiwaka, Topuni, Te Hana, Wellsford, Warkworth, Waiwera, Orewa, Silverdale, Albany, the Northcote-Albany Motorway, Auckland, the Auckland-Hamilton Motorway, Manurewa, Papakura, Drury, Pokeno, Mercer, Rangiriri, Huntly, Taupiri, Ngaruawahia, Hamilton, Cambridge, Tirau, Putaruru, Tokoroa, Kinleith, Atiamuri, Wairakei, Taupo, Motuoapa, Turangi, Rangipo Junction, Waiouru, Taihape, Mangaweka, Hunterville, Bulls, Sanson, Himitangi, Foxton, Levin, Otaki, Waikanae, Paekakariki, Porirua, Johnsonville (via Wellington-Foxton Motorway), and Ngauranga.

No. 2 State Highway (Pokeno-Wellington via Gisborne)—Commencing at its junction with No. 1 State Highway 1 mile north of Pokeno and proceeding thence to Wellington via Maramarua, Waitakaruru, Ngatea, Kerepehi, Netherton, Paeroa, Waihi, Katikati, Tauranga, Te Maunga, Te Puke, Matata, Whakatane, Taneatua, Kutarere, Opotiki, Matawai via Waioeka, Makaraka via Ormond, Morere, Nuhaka, Wairoa, Raupunga, Putorino, Bay View, Napier, Clive, Hastings, Waipawa, Waipukurau, Norsewood, Dannevirke, Woodville, Ngawapurua Bridge over the Manawatu River, Pahiatua, Eketahuna, Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, Featherston, Upper Hutt, Haywards, Lower Hutt (via Western Hutt), Petone, and terminating at Ngauranga at its junction with No. 1 State Highway.

No. 3 State Highway (Hamilton-Woodville via New Plymouth)—Commencing at Hamilton and proceeding thence to Woodville via Ohaupo, Te Awamutu, Kihikihi, Otorohanga, Te Kuiti, Piopio, Mahoenui, Awakino, Mokau, Tongaporutu, Ahititi, Waitara, New Plymouth, Inglewood, Stratford, Eltham, Hawera, Patea, Waverley, Waitotara Wanganui, Turakina, the junction at Cemetery Road in the Township of Sanson, via Awahuri, to the City of Palmerston North; thence along Napier Road and through the Manawatu Gorge.

No. 3A State Highway (Waitara-Inglewood)—Commencing at Inglewood and proceeding thence to its junction with No. 3 State Highway south of the Borough of Waitara via Sentry Hill and Waiongona.

No. 4 State Highway (Te Kuiti - Wanganui via Raetihi)—Commencing at its junction with No. 3 State Highway 8 miles south-west of Te Kuiti and proceeding thence to Wanganui via Mapiu, Mangatupoto, Taumarunui, Mananui, Owhango, National Park, Raetihi, Kakatahi, and Upokongaro.

No. 5 State Highway (Tirau-Napier via Rotorua and Taupo)—Commencing at its junction with No. 1 State Highway ½ mile east of Tirau and proceeding via Tapapa, Ngongotaha, Rotorua, Waiotapu, Wairakei, Taupo, Rangitaiki, Tarawera, Te Pohue, Eskdale to its junction with No. 2 State Highway near the Esk River bridge.
