NOTICE OF RESULT OF POLL ON LOAN PROPOSAL

PURSUANT to section 38 of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, notice is hereby given that, at a poll of the ratepayers of the City of Wellington taken on the 21st day of November 1959 on the proposal of the Wellington City Council to borrow the sum of £135,000 for the purpose of constructing tepid swimming baths in Wellington:

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 12,578
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 7,120
The number of informal votes was 296
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

APPLICATION FOR A DRY-RACE LICENCE FOR A WATER RACE AND FOR A TRANSFER OF THE THIRD OF A HEAD OF WATER FROM LICENCE NO. 236 THERETO FOR DOMESTIC AND STOCK WATERING PURPOSES

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Oamaru

PURSUANT to the Mining Act 1926, the undersigned, the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Waitaki hereby apply for a dry-race licence and for transfer of existing share in a water race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Mark on pegs: “Y”.
Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: The 22nd day of June 1959, at 4.30 p.m.
Date and number of miner’s right: Nil.
Address for service: The offices of Messrs Hislop and Creagh and Main, Solicitors, 70 Thames Street, Oamaru.
Dated at Oamaru this 30th day of June 1959.

SCHEDULE

LOCALITY of the dry race and of its starting and terminal points: Commencing at peg “Y” in the Maerewhenua River with intake pipes to pumps located on the east bank of the Maerewhenua at approximately 20 chains in a north-westerly direction from the junction of the Danseys Pass Road with the Livingston-Duntroon road and approximately 180 chains up stream from the present intake of Messrs A. J. G. Gibson and E. Haugh’s water race No. 236. From the pumps the pipeline runs in a south-easterly direction across Sections 30 and 28, Block 7, Maerewhenua Survey District, and Lots 3 and 2, D.P. 2561, Blocks 7 and 8, Maerewhenua Survey District to reservoir on Lot 2, D.P. 2561, Maerewhenua Survey District. The position of above intake pipes, pump delivery pipe, and reservoir being more particularly delineated by red line drawn on the plan.

Length and intended course of race: 120 chains, course delineated on plan.

Points of intake: Peg “Y” on east bank of Maerewhenua River as described above.

Estimated time and cost of construction: 3 months, £8,120.

Mean depth and breadth: 6 in. diameter pipes.

Number of heads to be diverted: One-third of a head.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Domestic purposes and stock watering.

Proposed term of licence: The remainder of the term of licence No. 236 (21 years from 8 July 1957).

PURSUANT to the Mining Act 1926, the undersigned the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Waitaki hereby apply for a licence for a dry race and transfer of existing race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: The 25th day of June 1959 at 3.40 p.m.

Date and number of miner’s right: Nil.

SCHEDULE

LOCALITY of the dry race and of its starting and terminal points, also description of land traversed, e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise: Commencing in the Awakino Stream at a point 7·2 chains below the intake of the late A. H. Chapman’s water race, registered No. 62, and thence running in a north-easterly direction across Section 5, Block IV, Kurow Survey District, for a total distance of 66 chains 66·73 links to a peg and thence in a south-easterly direction 6 chains 43·47 links across said Section 5 to junction of Awakino Road and Cattle Gully Road and thence along Cattle Gully Road in an easterly direction to Section 16, Block IV, Kurow Survey District and thence in a north-easterly and northerly direction across said Section 16 across Deposited Plan 1023 and Sections 3A and 2A to the reservoir in Section 1A.

Length and intended course of race: 2 miles 52 chains 27·16 links.

Points of intake: To be shifted to point in Awakino River 11034·22 links on bearing 260° 33′ 59″ from Survey Point “F” (approximately 1 mile 36·1 chains below present intake).

Estimated time and cost of construction: 6 months, £12,000.

Mean depth and breadth: 6 in. diameter pipes.

Number of heads to be diverted: One head from Licence 1/29 into dry race.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Domestic stock and irrigation.

Proposed term of licence: The remainder of the term of existing licence No. 1/29 (21 years from 24 October 1950).

NOTICE is hereby given that by application No. 52 of 1959, Idaburn Ltd., of Oturehua Farming Co., will apply to the Warden’s Court at Cromwell, on the 10th day of February 1960, for a licence for a water race authorising the diversion of one head of water for irrigation and stock purposes from Maori Creek on applicant’s private land by a race line commencing near applicant’s woolshed and terminating 1¼ miles north-west on applicant’s land.

Objections must be filed in the Registrar’s office, Cromwell, and notified to applicant at least three days before the above date of hearing.

THE MINING ACT 1926

NOTICE is hereby given that by application No. 56 of 1959, Idaburn Ltd., of Oturehua Farming Co., will apply to the Warden’s Court at Cromwell, on the 10th day of February 1960, for a licence for a water race authorising the diversion of one head of water for irrigation and stock purposes from Dovedale Creek on applicant’s private land by a race line commencing 3 chains east of where Moa Creek road crosses opposite applicant’s homestead and terminating 1 mile north-west on applicant’s land.

Objections must be filed in the Registrar’s office, Cromwell, and notified to applicant at least three days before the above date of hearing.

APPLICATION FOR LICENCE FOR WATER RACE

NOTICE is hereby given that Edward Eric Lawrence, of Alexandra, engineer, on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, has applied for a licence for a water race out of Waipuna Creek on Section 121, Block II, Leaning Rock District, with right to divert 1½ Government heads of water for a term of 21 years.

The time and place appointed for the hearing of the application and all objections thereto is Wednesday, 10 February 1960, at 10 a.m., at the Warden’s Court, Cromwell.
