Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the
Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Tikitere Development Scheme)
—
PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the
Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on the date of
the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described
in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the pro-
visions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the
said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated
29 October 1936 and published in the Gazette, 5 November
1936, Volume III, page 2171.

PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953,
the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on the
date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the
land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be
subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori
Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue
of the notice dated 18 August 1930 and published in the
Gazette, 4 September 1930, Volume III, page 2718, and
the notice dated 7 May 1940 and published in the Gazette,
9 May 1940, Volume II, page 1036.

Notice of Intention to Destroy Public Records
—
PURSUANT to section 17 of the Archives Act 1957, notice is
hereby given of intention to destroy the following public
records:
Internal Affairs Department—Registered Files 1912–32
These comprise a selection from the registered files of
the Department accumulated between 1912 and 1932. All
files relating to the general administration, broad policy,
and execution of the particular functions of the Depart-
ment, together with all material having any possible his-
torical, economic, and social value, have been selected and
preserved. The files to be destroyed consist only of the
minor details and routine aspects which are of necessity
connected with Government administration. They consist of
files relating to accounts, staff, records, cables, mail boxes,
stores control, office accommodation, office cleaning, and
other housekeeping matters: minor details relating to con-
stitutional matters—Royalty, General Assembly, elections,
New Zealand Gazette, High Commissioner, flags, deaths of
important people, public holidays, copies of local body
bylaws and authorities for noncontinuing action, all of
which have been gazetted: files relating to missing persons,
change of name, stranded New Zealanders, requests for
free passages to New Zealand, railway passes, and requests
for miscellaneous information: minor matters relating to
the personnel of fire boards, inspection of fire brigades and
fire-fighting appliances; control of explosives; censorship of
films; conduct of Royal Tours, and the entertainment of
distinguished visitors; the issue of passports, translation
from foreign languages, care and maintenance of war graves
and cemeteries, and copies of surveyor’s reports on planning
of towns: permits for raffles and art unions, the holding
of race meetings, and the export of Maori antiquities:
licensing of auctioneers, land agents, and ownership of fire-
arms: details of books, pictures, photographs, and objects
acquired by the Turnbull Library, the Dominion Museum
and art galleries, and material loaned to exhibitions: files
relating to the requirements of a country at war, permits
to leave New Zealand, relief funds, and patriotic societies:
material relating to the distribution of Government publi-
cations, and Government advertising in local newspapers.
These files may be inspected on application to the National
Archives, The Terrace, Wellington.
Any person may, within one month after the date of
publication of this notice, lodge with the Secretary for Inter-
nal Affairs, Wellington, an objection to the destruction of the
records specified above, stating therein the grounds of his
objection. Such objections will be dealt with in accordance
with section 18 of the Archives Act 1957.
