Boundaries of City of Christchurch, County of Halswell, and No. 2 Riding of County of Halswell Defined

PURSUANT to section 26 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the City of Christchurch, the County of Halswell, and the No. 2 Riding of the County of Halswell, the previous boundaries having been altered by Order in Council made on the 21st day of January 1959 and published in Gazette, 22 January 1959, No. 3, page 57.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the low-water mark of the sea (Pegasus Bay) in line with the middle of Beach Road, in Block VIII, Christchurch Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly along the low-water mark of the sea to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Reserve 224; thence south-easterly along a right line to the northernmost corner of the land in C.T. 430/216, being the land described in section 108 of the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act 1919; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of that land and its production to the mean high-water mark of the sea and along the mean high-water mark of the sea to Godley Head; thence south-westerly generally along the mean high-water mark of Lyttelton Harbour to a point due south of Trig. Station MM in Block I, Pigeon Bay Survey District; thence due north and generally south-westerly and north-westerly along the boundary of the Borough of Lyttelton as described in Gazette, 1950, pages 798–9 to its intersection with the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 4018; thence northerly generally along that boundary and the western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 17034, to its westernmost corner; thence westerly along a right line to the north-eastern corner of part Lot 47, D.P. 3416, along the northern boundaries of that part lot, and Lot 4, D.P. 19002, to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of part Lot 48, D.P. 3416, and Lot 1, D.P. 13547, and the south-eastern side of Monks Spur Road to the southernmost corner of Lot 6, D.P. 13416; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of that lot to a point in line with the southern boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 18654; thence north-westerly generally to and along that boundary, the northern side of Monks Spur Road to and along the northern boundary of Rural Section 38446 and the south-western and southern boundaries of part Lot 58, D.P. 3565, to the eastern boundary of part Lot 61, D.P. 3565; thence northerly generally along that boundary to the abutment of Glenstrae Road, across that road (along the eastern boundary of former Lot 2, D.P. 8200) and along the eastern boundary of other part Lot 61, D.P. 3565, to its northernmost corner; thence westerly along a right line across McCormacks Bay Road to the easternmost corner of Reserve 4324; thence north-westerly generally along the north-eastern side of McCormacks Bay Road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 71, D.P. 3838; thence southerly generally to and along the eastern boundaries of that lot, Lots 56, 78, 77, 57, and 76, D.P. 3838, the south-western boundary of the last-mentioned lot, and along the eastern side of Mount Pleasant Road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 8, D.P. 10400; thence south-westerly to and along the south-eastern boundaries of that lot, Lot 7, D.P. 10400, and the abutment of Muritai Terrace to the south-western side of that terrace; thence north-westerly generally along the south-western side of Muritai Terrace and its production to the western side of Major Hornbrooks Road, along that roadside to the southernmost corner of Lot 1, D.P. 9478, and along the south-western boundaries of Lots 1 and 7, D.P. 9478, and Lot 5, D.P. 10015, to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence northerly along the western boundaries of Lots 4, 2, and 1, D.P. 10015, the western side of Major Hornbrooks Road to and along the western boundaries of Lots 4, 3, 2, and 1, D.P. 11756, Lot 1, D.P. 17174, part Lot 2, and Lot 6, D.P. 12731, to the southernmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. 18795; thence westerly along the southern boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 18795, Lots 34 to 41 inclusive, D.P. 11358, Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 11148, Lot 2, D.P. 10203, part Lot 24, Lots 23, 22, 21, and Lots 15 to 10 inclusive, D.P. 9784, and Lot 1, D.P. 8729, to the eastern side of Ferrymead Terrace; thence northerly generally along that roadside to the northernmost corner of Lot 1, D.P. 15310, and along a right line across Main Road to the southernmost corner of part Rural Section 4, comprised in C.T. 369/2; thence along a bearing of 265° 09′, 681·5 links to the left bank of the Heathcote River; thence westerly generally along that river bank to a point in line with the western side of Chapmans Road; thence southerly to and along that roadside to the north-eastern boundary of Christchurch-Lyttelton Branch Railway; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of the land shown coloured violet on S.O. Plans 8834 and 7509, to a point in line with the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 18502; thence westerly to and along that boundary to the north-eastern corner of Lot 3, D.P. 18502; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundaries of that lot, and part Lot 17, D.P. 412, and the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 6729, and its production to the south-western side of Opawa Road; thence westerly generally along that roadside to the easternmost corner of Reserve 3803, along the southern boundary of that reserve to its westernmost corner, along a right line across Bishopsworth Street to the easternmost corner of Lot 6, D.P. 20432, along the northern boundaries of Lots 6 and 7, D.P. 20432, and its production to the south-western side of Port Hills Road and along that roadside to the northernmost corner of part Lot 1, D.P. 14240;
